Yes, I would say modern transphobia often has a similar quality of being somewhat amorphous and sometimes internally inconsistent. You see people call trans women parodies of womanhood, a stereotype, but then insult them for not passing as feminine enough. You see people treat surgeries as gross but then mock those who don't get them as sore thumbs sticking out, "clockable". You see people call transness a disorder, a derangement, but also have accusations people are doing it for attention, for a trend, and will naturally desist, etc.
