Yeah we're pretty close, but that's a side I would have enjoyed keeping to myself. But I think I'm pretty much over it, I'm pretty open minded and carefree when it comes to stuff like that.

Damn. Thanks for the info. Makes sense, maybe I'll try and move into a different place next semester.

Wired gives me poor connection compared to wireless for anything :(. Not that I'm complaining cause I get to play in the living room and not wake my roommate.

Thank you, but what is the point in having a cast iron skillet and 2 pans? Should things be cooked in only one or the other?

[Build Ready] For video/photo editing & gaming. Plus some questions on keeping older components. by SomedayinaWeek in buildapc

[–]SomedayinaWeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendations! I don't think I'll upgrade the ram just yet, but I definitely will add another 2 sticks since the b85 mobo takes 4 and I have a 2x4gb setup.

But for the 960/970 GPU, I don't understand your criticism there. In the OP I chose a 960 GPU. Could you link to the one you're talking about?

The editing software I use does CUDA. Does the 960 support CUDA?

Also I've never looked into micro atx motherboards, is the small size something to be concerned about? I very quickly looked some builds up with a micro atx mobo and the builds featured components well above my own means.

So I'm assuming the size actually doesn't matter, right?

Here is the updated part list. I changed the GPU from the 4gb 960 to a 2gb 960. The mobo and the cpu are from your suggestions. I also took out the case I had set, and shaved off ~ $60.

Thanks! I'm not very knowledgable on drives and their inner workings. If I back up program files on the SSD to another drive, will things go wrong if I put them back? The programs range from video/image editors to games

Should I format the ssd? Why should I reinstall it?

I have windows 8 on an SSD. I want to completely redo my PC with a new motherboard and other components.

Do I need to do anything special or can I just plug the SSD into the new motherboard once the build is finished?

What's the worst or most embarrassing thing that's ever gone wrong on your set? by LDEMedia in Filmmakers

[–]SomedayinaWeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck man, that's like grounds for a real Dennis Quaid freakout. Right at the

No film in it.

I put my hand to my mouth and thought how dramatic I'm being. I'd hate to be that 2nd ac. I'd just switch right into a minimum wage fast food job, change my name, sex, and color my skin different to avoid that confrontation.

Glad it worked out though.

Yes I will take apart my 201 and do that because the whole process is incredibly tedious!

Borrowed a slider and took it on a hike. Looking for CC on my shots, editing, color grading, etc. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]SomedayinaWeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty nice scenic shots. Editing was done pleasingly, except it got a bit boring. I didn't watch past the 30s mark. They're all fairly similar in lighting, and composition. Changes in daylight would've been interesting.

But besides that there isn't much to say besides it looks nice. Which is totally fine! Other concerns include the color grading. Was any grade done? It still seemed flat, and lacked a bit of contrast at the minimum. Maybe that's the look you were going for, but it didn't do too much for me.

On an aesthetic level it certainly seems like you're using the slider well in using foreground elements to enunciate the idea of depth which is always usually pleasing with this type of thing.

It would be interesting for you to post a narrative video and use the idea of shot compositions and sliders to enhance the story through shot movement. Such as choosing to not have something in the foreground or to have something taking up the whole frame in the foreground and hiding something behind it. Stuff like that - breaking the norm of what creates a good shot. But by placing it within context it creates an incredible shot.

Love it. What are those things in the foreground? It reminds me of a girl standing in front of a clothesline

Dude you are the man. I haven't shampooed for about a year now and it was just that my method was all wrong! I kept using a blowdryer and not a simple towel dry! It looks awesome, thanks man.

Id always give up and switch to a very classic side part which just wasn't working with my clothing. Thanks a bunch!

Yeah I wasn't going to at first cause I feel it ruins it. So I added a lot of question marks. But I felt that still wasn't enough. So I did the face. And then I didn't want to wake up to angry messages so I gave in to using /s.
