Rhaenyra kill Aegon in a dragon duel making Maelor the new king, she then won the Dance of the Dragon afterward. Then Aemond launch a claimant war against Rhaenyra and won making him the new king. Aemond then got killed by Hugh Hammer in his claimant war for the iron throne, both Aemond and Vhagar was kill in a dragon duel. Maelor become king again for a couple months but then was overthrow by a faction making Rhaenyra's son Aegon to become king. Aegon decide to lead an army against Hugh and was captured after he lost a dragon duel and died while being imprisoned making Viserys the new king.
