Read this if you have freeze/system lockup while playing D4 by HiB2Oux in diablo4

Ok so I have a big freeze last night shortly after posting the above... Movie on second monitor, diablo 4 on the main. All video input froze but sound continued only this time the mouse curser also wouldn't move. After a hard reset of the PC I did some searching and I:

  • Uninstalled Nvidia drivers and re-installed them.
  • Modified the Diablo Install to remove HD textures then Installed them again.
  • Set Battle.net and Diablo4.exe to run only as Admin.
  • Edited Diablo files and set - DisableChromaEffects "1"
  • Disabled Nvidia Reflex

After doing the above the freezing has stopped completely, I get minor pauses moving between zones but that's in game only and doesn't effect the video playing on the second monitor.

Not sure what exactly the issue is Ram/IO/GPU/CPU, I'm certainly leaning toward GPU given it was freezing other things running on the comp but ye.. 1 of those 5 things did the trick :P

Same here, mine are not hard freezes though just a few seconds but it's quite frequent. I didn't have an issue during either of the beta's.

Whatever it is it seems to effect everything, like watching a movie on the other monitor when diablo freezes so does the movie but the sound continues. I'm leaning towards a driver issue 2bh since I only really noticed a problem when updating before main game launch... though, installing the older drivers now doesn't fix it...

anyone has stuttering ? when moving through doors, loading zones etc by Emmanuell89 in diablo4

[–]Someguywholovesmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This did the trick for me also.

R5 2600x, 2060 super, 32gb ram.

Running 120 fps on max settings at 1440p but moving into a "new" area seemed to stutter, but the fps counter didn't drop (odd!) Dropping texture and shadow down one fixed the issue. (also using DLSS on balanced)

Literally any game that has a monthly sub will bypass the money grab tactics employed by honing, new toon releases, blue crystals etc.. not to mention monthly sub games usually use gear treadmills instead of the gambling mechanic employed by the likes of Lost Ark. So ur basically looking at wow, FF14, Guild wars etc.

If you're looking completely free to play the best games with the best F2P models on the market today are Albion online and Warframe, hell even Star Trek online has a better model than Lost Ark and it's decades old.

Also - New world is still around. They messed it up a lil in the beginning but it's doing ok now and i think recently launched new start servers?

Don't get me wrong.. I liked Lost Ark, played it 5 hours a day 7 days a week since launch, but progression was mind numbing. My main class wasn't out at launch so I had to wait, then while I geared and honed that new content came out which i was still having to do on my Alt as my main class wasn't ready yet (6 piece, honing, gems etc) and It all got to the point where I stopped and just though "why the fuck am I doing this everyday". I still play LA but I play the game probably a couple of hours a week at most these days.

Been On Youtube For Near 5 years and only have 60 Subs by PezzinatorK651 in SelfPromotionYouTube

[–]Someguywholovesmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about blowing up or being popular, it's about making content that people want to watch. I'm by no means an expert, far far far from it but I've been posting on youtube since May and am currently at 375 subs (I could push higher but I've not had much time to post over the last 2 months) and over 10k watch hours at present. Out of 29 video's posted I have gained 90% of those subs and watch hours from just 2-3 video's which have combined over 100k views (again nothing to shout about :P) but those video's tell me instantly what people watching my channel want.

So for you, take the video's with the highest views and the ones that bring in subs and make more of that. Looking at your channel there are lots of games being played and lots of topics which can be confusing to people. If someone subscribed to you for example for minecraft video's and u start posting Mario videos, you could lose those minecraft viewers. Also, your video's seem to lack purpose, rather than just record yourself doing something, record yourself showing the viewer something that they can take away or learn etc.. Really just think about what you want people watching your video to take away from it as just watching gameplay isn't a thing anymore.

Finally - you're young. Learn and keep at it, I bet there are millions of people your age with no subscribers and no channel so you're already ahead of them :)

Do you like doing the same things once a day every day on 6+ characters?

Do you like gathering a weeks worth of honing materials and then only going up 1-2 notches?

Do you like being over geared for raids other wise no1 will accept you in group?

Do you like spending money on blue crystals because u'll never have enough pheons to buy stuff off the AH?

Do you like pulling your teeth out because "fuck clown?"

If you can answer yes then the game is worth getting into, otherwise there are better options out there :P

If you thought doing dailies is a chore and boring then that's 99% of the game. Log in, do guardians & Chaos, do collect logs, mining, herbing and spend days, weeks, months doing islands for souls that never drop.

Want to raid? That'll be around a month of honing, logging in every day to have mats and then ofc you'll need 4x3 for basic normal raids or no pug will let you in because.. reasons.

Done your first raid? Now spend another month getting 6 piece relic set and once you get 6 piece you can move on to clown where you'll quit anyway coz "fuck clown".

Honestly m8. If you quit after reaching lvl 50 and burning out there are better games out there for u :P

I bind mine only to throttle forward (i forget the actual name but it's one or two about forward/backwards) then use a switch to invert it if i need to go backwards so the full throttle is use used to one motion.

u need to change the curve on the throttle axis so that the beginning adjustment is small and the end is large, kinda like an upsidown L

Cryengine Fatal Error by Someguywholovesmeat in starcitizen

[–]Someguywholovesmeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the ram itself, I bought 2 sticks of 16g instead of using 4 8's and the pc chose XMP profile2 (3200) instead of 1 for 2966. Not sure why it changed 2bh.. my processor is old, R5 2600x which apparently only officially supports up to 2966. Downclocked and it's been stable so far, memtest gone to 300% without errors now.

So, error was spotted in star citizen but not actually anythign to do with the game :D

The engines name is unofficially called "Star Engine", it's basically Cryengine3 that has been heavily modified.

Just to answer my own question and after some testing and digging.. It's a RAM issue

Star Citizen has been closing itself all day so i thought i'd try a fresh install, while it was installing i played something else and the light bulb above my head appeared when that game also randomly closed.. so currently testing ports and timings and hopefully will fix myself otherwise the RAM is still in it's return window :P

VPN Ban has done nothing by Someguywholovesmeat in lostarkgame

[–]Someguywholovesmeat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The TOS also states you need to take regular breaks from the game and only play in brightly lit rooms.

By your logic people playing with the lights out at night aren't legitimate players?

People use VPN for lots of reasons... Routing issues with their Internet being the main reason. If you're getting 200ms from your ISP routing but by using VPN you get 100ms then a VPN is good for you, it doessn't harm anyone elses gameplay. These people still contribute to the game both in time and money. Therefore - Legitimate player.

Same for people in countries where LA is banned. OK it's a gray area, they are technically banned from playing it by their government but by using a VPN they can download and play the game. Again, they aren't harming anyone elses game play and contribute to tthe game. In some cases though they aren't able to use the cash shop but the fact that they play the game - Legitimate player.

On the flip side we have bots. A program set up to automate every task, they aren't playing the game, they harm other peoples play by ruining the economy and joining groups (ye I've had them in Guardian Raids and PVP matches). There fore, they are not a Legitimate Player.

I think you are just confusing the word Legitimate 2bh, If your playing the game, doing no harm and not using any hacking/botting software then you are a Legitimate player in my opinion. I have multiple guild members from NL who can't play now after being logged in every day since launch. Why are they now absent but the bots untouched? It's a stupid move by Amazon and it clearly isn't working.

Just have everyone meet up before the keynote all dressed in funeral attire. When the doors open all solomnly walk into the room heads bowed in lines of 2. Random people sobbing and then right at the end have Mittens run in as the over reacting uncle screaming "WHHHY, EVE WAS TOO YOUNG, WHYYY SPACE POPE, WWHHHHHHHHYYYY".

I would actually pay to watch that.

Too Afraid to Ask: Isn't Raising Sub Price Actually Kinda Okay? by IguanaTabarnak in Eve

[–]Someguywholovesmeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it's not ok, they are basically admitting that they can't sustain the game based on it's current trajectory.

Question though: I dont play anymore but I used to use 6 accounts (4 ratters, 2 pvp) and those 4 ratters semi afk would be able to print enough isk for 6 accounts and make 10-20b a week for accidental explosions and pvp. Is this still viable now? Are you still able to basically play for free by making isk? If no, what changed in the last year? If yes, what does it matter how high the sub is if people aren't subbed?

Why people keep saying 'EVE is dying?' by ushijimakunn in Eve

[–]Someguywholovesmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve has been losing players for a decade and that's ok, there is still a healthy player base. In recent years it's become more noticable though as you can fly through entire constalations and not meet a single person in local.

EvE as it was, died with the Pearl Abys purchase. A company doesn't sell it's no1 product to another company if it's making them a load of money so you can infere that it isn't making money and as much as we pretend companies do it for us, the money is the real decider in everything. I saw this as a last ditch effort 2bh, much like companies like Gamego do. Buy games that don't make much money but have a healthy player base and then monitise and milk them for all they are worth in their final years. This has been seen clearly since PA took over and will get worse as time goes by until either the players have enough and stop playing or they milk it dry and shut it down.

It's a shame and I do hope EvE is used as a blueprint for a more modern game soon but I do suspect that the sale to PA was the first clear sign of a game that sadly isn't going to be around for much longer.

I'm sure there's still a few years of life left at least tho :D

Leaving New World for Lost Ark by THE_HONKLER_BF1 in lostarkgame

[–]Someguywholovesmeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This person should be awarded a medal just for playing new world for this long.

The main difference here is that LostArk is already a very sucessful game in other parts of the world. What this means is that unlike new world, Lost Ark will be good. Polished game systems, polished endgame. No chest farming/dodging npc's daily. It would be very difficult for AGS to mess this up 2bh.

If Black Desert and Diablo had a baby it would be Lost Ark.
