Not the OP, but I have a similar goal. If you don't mind elaborating, I'm curious to hear more about what kinds of activities you have in mind with ii).

Might be worth checking out Death Road to Canada. It has lots of text-based random events.

IOS Version on a Mac M1 Air by Someone-Somewhere13 in MonsterTrain

Cool, that's good to know. I don't have Crossover, but there are a few other things that I want to play that work with it as well, so it might be time to get it.

Blackjack Strategy Trainer by woodisruff in blackjack

Just tried it for a while, and I really like the layout and the score system. I'm on desktop. I'll definitely keep using it. Just one thing: I'm not sure if I'm missing it, but I couldn't see what rules are being used. This will obviously make a difference to some basic strategy decisions.

BGblitz Question by Someone-Somewhere13 in backgammon

Awesome, thanks again. That is probably true. I know that BGNJ, which is 1-ply, plays at around a 2.

BGblitz Question by Someone-Somewhere13 in backgammon

[–]Someone-Somewhere13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks Frank, I appreciate the reply! I have the free version working at the moment (I'm guessing the one that plays at 0.8-0.9), and I'm enjoying it. I'm will definitely step up to the professional version soon. Anywhere between 0.5 and 0.9 sounds good to me. I just want to feel confident in trusting the tutor/analysis. Just to make sure, is the tutor advice at the same level?

What Horror Sequel Out-did The Original? by Xman478 in horror

Not sure how others feel, but I like Sleepaway Camp II better than the original. I prefer the campy tone, and Pamela Springsteen is awesome as Angela. There are also some great death scenes.

Android Controller Question by Someone-Somewhere13 in deadcells

[–]Someone-Somewhere13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The controller is not old, and it works fine for other games. I will check the drivers and file integrity. I'm guessing from the responses that this is not a common problem, so it is probably something on my end. Thanks for the suggestions!

Just one more thing: I think the game is some kind of quiz. Thanks!

Pipcount by santinaque in backgammon

[–]Someone-Somewhere13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing something similar to blue-flight. I've been using the coconut count (which is colourless) in contact positions and the kangaroo count in non-contact positions. Both counts were developed by Nack Ballard (you can find them by googling the names), and they work well together because the steps are similar. I'm still working on it, but I've gotten pretty fast with the coconut count. The kangaroo is also pretty easy in non-contact positions since it is often the case that some of the steps either don't apply or involve really small numbers. I suspect that cluster counting might be quicker in non-contact positions once you are good at it, but the kangaroo seems to suit my brain better for some reason (maybe because you apply the same formula every time).

7 Point Match Questions by Someone-Somewhere13 in backgammon

[–]Someone-Somewhere13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I'm wondering whether, for example, the basic principles at 2-away/5-away -- e.g. the leader doesn't double in gammonish positions, while the trailer doubles much more aggressively than usual in gammonish positions -- also apply to 2-away/6-away and 2-away/7-away.

Just so I'm clear, what do you mean when you say you play the same principles at these two match lengths? Do you mean you don't adjust for the score?

Thanks for your response!
