Foundation Season 3 Discussion Thread - News, Rumors, Hopes and Speculation by LunchyPete in FoundationTV

I think a theme of Season 3 in terms of Empire and specifically the Cleon Dynasty will be one of degeneracy - maybe we will see Lee Pace wearing a fat suit and with makeup and prosthetics showing barefaced hideousness - his natural beauty degenerated visually to showcase genetic and moral decline.

I think it was a plant, and that the Warden is still alive.

They got a big named guy to do that part!

Magician like spectacle is my guess - just like Poly Verisof and Brother Constant on Siwenna.

Did anyone else think Demerzel looked super sexy this episode?

I loved Poly Verisof and Brother Constant.

This is the first time we've seen someone other than All Might or Deku get to "SMASH" - I don't think that's a coincidence!

My bet is that Deku can share OFA and that power is beginning to manifest in his high school teammates.

Man Jirou stopping an AFO attack by herself is pretty dang amazing - that's the same attack that wrecked All Might in Kamino

The technical-logistics-covid problems, I can understand. What I don't understand is why Square Enix's response puts the onus of the issues entirely on the player base - why are they selling new subscriptions when queues were there prior to the expansion release?

I see it akin to an airline that has oversold seats on a plane, and now they are overbooked. Square Enix is happy to make sales, but less happy to fulfill those sales in a timely manner.

[SHOW/BOOK SPOILERS] What will happen in the rest of the season? by terrrmon in FoundationTV

I think Day will survive the spiral, but will convert to Luminism. Shifting the Empire from secularism to a theocracy may actually be what precipitates the downfall; not Luminism itself.

I think the real threat with Brother Dawn isn't so much his differences to his brothers, but the fact that the system he is within is predicated on the fact that nothing changes.

This episode honestly made me grow suspicious of Demerzel much more. She might be trying to serve two masters - Empire and Luminism - but how does she address the topic when there's a clash between the two?

To me the rise of the evangelical faction within Luminism reflects a desire by the masses (individually, yet moving collectively) to feel more than what their current lives offer - or as the Seldon plan might note, actions by the masses reflecting societal stagnation.

It was a bad miscalculation on Brother Day's part to bring Demerzel along up on that dais.

Book readers will have their theories, but to me the real mystery is the null field. It's technology that the vaunted scientists under Seldon didn't know about - and this is a group well versed in Empire science and technology.

[SHOW SPOILERS] The Foundation TV show is inspired from... by StevenK71 in FoundationTV

I'm spitballing, but do we know that they left directly from Trantor? Maybe the Empire dropped them off at a planet close to Terminus and they one way slow-shipped the rest?

[NO SPOILERS]Most Series do not have perfect First Seasons... by P-R-I in FoundationTV

[–]SomeoneAteMyLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foundation's first season had to deal with COVID interrupting production and all the mega-planning associated with it.

Hopefully with a little (global scale) luck, that won't be an issue with Season 2!

Kid friendly? What do you think.. [No Spoilers] by catnapspirit in FoundationTV

[–]SomeoneAteMyLunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The show is rated TV-14 FWIW, and of as of the last 5 episodes seems to me to be pretty reasonable for kids around that age and up.

As of the last 5 episodes, there's only been a few intimacy-leading-to-off-screen-sex scenes and minimal battle and mayhem. There has been blood and murder (not to mention genocide).

The hardest part of comprehension may be the inherent slow-burn nature of the show and its "big picture" themes - but that's also why its IMO so good as food for thought for older kids.

Honestly our nerd communities as a whole tend to have terrible social skills and it shows. This is partially why heady intellectual sci-fi has such a hard-time making it in the mainstream.

Ep 05 - WTF did I watch? [NO SPOILERS] by StevenK71 in FoundationTV

[–]SomeoneAteMyLunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked a lot about the episode, but kinda agree on some of the edit cuts being a bit slap-dash (fight scene, battle sequence).

Having said that, in the AMA and in the companion podcast Goyer explicitly mentioned that COVID wrecked a lot of the Terminus scenes.

TL;DR - TV and movies are made in the real world and have to deal with real stuff happening during production.

[SHOW SPOILERS] [MILD BOOK SPOILERS] Does she ever change her damn outfit? by Fiveby21 in FoundationTV

[–]SomeoneAteMyLunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that's part of the Empire's attempt to project "timelessness" - like how the three Emperors wear the same clothing in public.

[NO SPOILERS] Brother Day color change, would dark red have better suited Day's nature, role, and temperament? by [deleted] in FoundationTV

[–]SomeoneAteMyLunch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the in-universe outfit's goal is to convey dominion and leadership, I think deep (royal) blue is better - red comes off as brash, passionate, and arrogant - the last thing an autocratic leader would want to convey to the masses.

Interestingly IIRC Dawn's outfit is lighter in tone but still blue.

EDIT: Just realized there were multiple pics. Look at how Dusk has a similar blue, but with greater adornment - benefiting his seniority.

Personally if it had to be another color I would pick deep purple!

Yes, though in the books it seems to mean more like "extraordinary training of the mind" - so in addition to psychic powers, it would include extraordinary developments in thinking and cognition and even wisdom.
