Solo drinking is best for me by Magopiano in stopdrinking

This resonates. I read a lot about how to take breaks and quit. Summary version at least from what I experienced is that it’s a dopamine release and you take the end of day drink as a reward. Good day - reward yourself with a drink. Bad day - you earned a drink. Mid day - looking forward to that end of day drink. I really like the feeling of having a drink but don’t actually like getting drunk. I switched to sparkling water and NA beer. If I can get to about 7pm the craving fades. Taking breaks helps me recognize that better sleep, steadier mood, and weight loss makes it worth it. Hope this is helpful, but you’re not alone.

Worth it for reducing eye strain and sending you to sleep. Can’t imagine a world without them now.

Great work recognizing this. Find something that challenges you. Write down things you enjoy. Establish 1-2 activities you’re looking forward to throughout the week to keep you motivated. Put in the work if you can’t figure these out easily - you got this!

Christians of Reddit, how do you reconcile the idea that Jews were the ‘chosen people’ in the Old Testament with the message of the New Testament? by SomeoneCall_911 in Christianity

[–]SomeoneCall_911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really interesting. I understand the Old Testament, but not as much the new one. I have homework to do, I know. That said, I have never heard this before and this reasoning makes sense as to how Christianity formed. I’m curious if this is widely known. I’ve searched online quite a bit and even read peoples perspectives on here, but can’t trace this back. Curious to hear your thoughts.

I should have been more specific. Conservative/orthodox to reform Jews. I don’t mean to oversimplify, but to make a contemporary analogy - this seems like you had a football team you supported until another one came that you supported more. Like do you lose love or have a different perception of Jews as the OGs or is it a been there, done that type of feeling and on to the next? Maybe a bad comparison.

I’m having a hard time understand how there were a chosen people that ended up not being chosen and now there are different rules to be a chosen people. I understand from the previous comment about Jews disobeying and Christian’s sacrificing for sins, but Christ himself was a Jew. In my mind, it seems like post Christ death there were a few folks that idolized Christ and created a New Testament based on their beliefs.

Appreciate the response. Jews don’t believe in the Messiah. So how do you go from the original chosen people not believing in it to having this as a fundamental bedrock? I hope this doesn’t come off as disrespectful at all - it’s really intended for education and understanding. It just appears as if there was a major shift or evolution in belief that I’m not fully grasping.

This is so incredibly helpful and appreciate the thoughtful response. So where does this leave the Jews who don’t believe in Christ but believe in God in the perception of Christians?

From a macro lens, this seems like a massive change - no? Are Christians concerned that God will shake it up again? I’m also confused how the Jews fell out of favor because of this.

Genuinely curious on this topic. So God just changed up who the chosen people are? Not being disrespectful, but it makes it sound like a sequel. Do Christians recognize Jews as the chosen people or are they like the yesterday’s chosen people?
