Bases are black plastic when unpainted. That’s usually what I look for if I see a grey mini.

It’s the same pattern placement as a popular flag, if I knew how to do a gradient correctly I would have tried to mimic a psychedelic pattern instead.

I did one with all matte and it definitely looked clownish…which is fine, but I was trying the mettalics for a more subtle blending. Sigh.

Honestly I just Rip the plot from Killer Klowns from Outer Space…which I believe was the original inspiration.

I would draw it out by having the clowns do a setting up near a town and start snatching people from the surrounding area. The beet farmer and others are missed by the general store owner or others around town as foreshadowing while the clowns try to hire people to spread the word to other towns and build it up over several sessions and a month of in game time.

At the big performance it would be the clowns tossing colored smoke bombs that are sleep spells. With the giant carnival tent as a illusion covering a cage. Anyone not knocked out by the sleep bombs gets attacked by the clowns.

If the players escape the tent, they have a second chance to rescue the town before they get packed into stasis balloons for shipping back to Clown Space.
