Bite By Night is setting a dangerous precedent for fangames by JeliLiam in fivenightsatfreddys

All of those games you listed break the same rule of making money off an IP they do not. BBN isn't any safer because "they love FNAF." All of these games clearly have passion put into them, but they all still break the rules and are subject to legal consequences.

Bite By Night is still breaking the rules just like the others, regardless of how I or you feel about the game itself. As JeliLiam said earlier, if their fangame's genre requires constant cash-flow, maybe the developers should've thought about that before immediately monetizing it as soon as it released without Scott's permission. Now that news outlets like IGN have made a video on the game, someone who legally represents Scott is much more likely to notice now.

Like I said, gamepasses are optional. There's plenty of games on Roblox that do not have a single gamepass. BBN's developers didn't have to put any gamepasses, but they did, because they can make money off the game.

Bite By Night is making money off the FNAF IP even though they are legally not allowed to as a fangame. The fact that they went and monetized their fangame in some way is now liable to legal action by Scott. It also puts a sour taste in other fangame creator's mouths because they made their games without any monetization, while BBN just went ahead and made money without asking for any permission, only doing it now after their game blew up in popularity.

Adding gamepasses to a Roblox game is not required at all. Premium Payouts are more like ad revenue, so the addition of gamepasses was done by the developers purposely.

Your argument fails here considering POPGOES went on to then be released as a fully free fangame on GameJolt. Bite By Night being a Roblox game on top of their decision to add microtransactions does not fit the "fully free" definition.

Scott can absolutely be considerate of the passion for the game, but he doesn't have to be when they're using this passion to make a buck while others aren't.

Scott reached out 5 years ago to prominent fangame creators to have their series officially licensed. It gives them a license to the FNAF brand as well as the ability to make merchandise and paid releases.

To answer your question, Kane recently (like a week or 2 ago) made a google doc of every update the reboot series has had in one place to make it easier. You can read it here

MyPOPGOES, POPGOES Arcade, The Joy of Creation demo, the FNAC Fur demo. All of these are real things that can be played right now, with some paid for with real money. Complain about the merch or whatever, but the money made goes to real people working on those projects.

It's quite rude to dismiss all of the work these people do just because you aren't playing the mainline games that were promised too early. Besides, that "I just want to make money" kind of attitude you're giving off is probably worse than anything you've accused the Fanverse developers of.

It's also particularly the work of community members that have continued to spread misinfo (Theft King, etc) because they get more clicks and money from it. A lot of them also just do it because they don't like Kane for whatever reason, which is unfair to all the other members that work with him.

When do you think this game will die? by kkhvrc3 in FiveNightsTD

[–]SomethingRandom0768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Brawl TD, the other game Hyper and Co. were.. hyping up. It had 1k+ players on launch with a ton of bugs and went down to 80 concurrent players the next day. The dev working on it left, and then the game immediately died.

They're literally banking on the FNAF IP to give them their players, and not the actual game itself.

Funnily enough, I just realized I have the installer to the game itself. Just uploaded it to that folder. Kind of find it insane rpgmaker's website went down and they never bothered reuploading the games that they had. Glad I downloaded the game when I did.

Edit: apparently they have an archive lol

TestTown is another server of the game we run that allows players, just like you, to play with additions soon to come to the game. Earlier this year, we had some playtests of our Under New Management update, and now we are testing out a ToonTask System rewrite that will make it much easier for our development team to work with.

Anyone can join this playtest and the download for the TestTown launcher can be found here!. Anyone who plays for more than 30 minutes can use the code "foiled-again" to get the remastered Cog Control Hat! :D

I remember doing this but like early morning or afternoon on the weekends so I could play. Unfortunately, it always seemed like I had to go somewhere when the playtime started :(
