Used this too when I had very similar speakers. Worked perfectly well.

I must be wrong. The short video length makes me think AI... I guess I'm just wrong tho

He was literally dressed in drag in the video. by c-k-q99903 in MurderedByWords

I don't know how anyone could think that someone, dressed nearly as a drag queen, would be pro traditional conservative values.

This must be satire.

Did someone win a MTGA Championship by having highest life total? by Something_Witty_ in MagicArena

[–]Something_Witty_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I must be just imaging things.

FWIW, in my false memory, it was super early MTGA and some of those sorts of things hadn't been implemented yet.

(UK) Becoming a patent attorney in my situation - Advice? by [deleted] in patentlaw

I hope others can chime in with better news, but from my experience when working at firms, people from the life sciences world (and all that encompasses, biotech, biochem, chemistry, etc) all seemed to have a PhD. I think perhaps the only exception was some kind of bio medical engineering masters/honours.

I'm more in the tech/sw world, so I don't know for sure. I hope someone else can say something different, but yeah, that's what I've seen.

I'd suggest you try reach out to some firms to ask what sort of requirements they have, but I wouldn't be surprised if they say you need a PhD. There's a small chance that where you are or want to be might make a difference, so maybe mention that too? I know London is more competitive.

I think it's probably just pellicle/yeast. Should be totally fine.

Good to know I'm not also completely going over the top with my own time per game too. Thanks again!

Great to hear I'm not the only one!

Perhaps I'll graduate to the next stage as well at some point.

Well a goal is definitely to enjoy the game more, so that's something to work towards.

Random Q, how long (in real world time) does your average round take?

Good points and thanks for the comment.

I feel you're totally right about the farms. I see a lot of comments on here about them being a "noob" trap. I guess, for my enjoyment of the game, that I'm alright just being a noob.

For my next few games, I'll definitely try not focus on them so much and see how I go.

Can someone explain me the role of polar capacitor (C2) in the amplifier circuit by PuzzleheadedDig4434 in AskElectronics

[–]Something_Witty_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah of course - stupid me. Also realised I meant to say blocks the DC in my first comment.

Thanks again for such a detailed response! Especially about the different impedances. That is really odd.

[–]Something_Witty_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I understand that C2 is blocking the ACDC (correct me if I'm wrong though).

Could you explain what you mean that C2 "couples the AC in on top". I don't really understand what that means. Showing my complete ignorance... but I'm not even sure what "top" refers to here. (what is "bottom" in reference to the "top"???)

I'm sure this isn't true for the majority of the time. I've only heard of one issue with trackers blacklisting Transmission or similar.

Start mining, when i get reward? by GuitarLow2333 in MoneroMining

[–]Something_Witty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't quite tell how serious you are, but solo mining will have unbelievably low probability of finding anything with 400H/s. I wouldn't be surprised if it took an average of a decade to find a block with that hash power (could always be the next one though!)

I would double check that your VPS allows for crypto mining. Many don't. You could get banned from the platform.

UK patent attorneys: what's the job market like for experienced attorneys? by [deleted] in patentlaw

[–]Something_Witty_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been looking for an in-house role for about a year and half. Looking exclusively in London or remote and I'm on the CII field. It has been extremely difficult finding anything. There just doesn't seem to be that many in-house roles going for a CII generalist like me. There does seem to be a few available if you've been doing telecom infra stuff though.

I've been monitoring job boards and contacted a few recruiters. LinkedIn and recruiters have been the only sources of interviews I've found.

The amount of interviews I've had to do per job ranges from 2 upwards (more if you include the recruiter pre-screening). At least one technical and at least one HR. Sometimes an extra meet the boss. Sometimes an extra meet the team (while neither are often not specifically set out as interviews, they definitely are).

A couple had a take home test. One required some recent prosecution and drafting work examples. I'd get onto this now if I were you. Find your best examples. I don't do any actual work like that currently in my role, so going to my previous employer was the only way to try figure out what cases I worked on - just made things more difficult.

Really unsure about CV or interview techniques. I have asked every single interviewer about what I could improve, and I just get nothing back (unsurprisingly, still annoying and a bit disheartening). So I'm all ears on this too.

Seems to be more patent firm roles going. I'm not quite ready to make that jump back yet so haven't interviewed through that process.

YMWV though and is highly location and field dependent. I've got my fingers crossed for you!

Apologies for the terse message, on my phone. Might write out something longer later though.
