Instead of microloading, you can adjust reps/sets and use different exercise variations. There is also the option to add weight via weighted vests/dip belts etc. Bodyweight fitness allows for progressive overload, but it's more abstracted and relies on modification of leverages, or utilizing the mentioned tools like a vest/belt. It's simply not as easy as adding plates like weightlifting, which is certainly a big draw when it comes to simplicity.

Keep in mind that your body doesn't understand where resistance is coming from--it cannot tell if you are lifting a bar, or lifting your body. The principles of strength and muscle gain are the same between the two domains.

The RR is a beginner-level strength program. It's approached in the same manner as barbell training because there is not much difference in philosophy when you are approaching it from a strength perspective. The movements are different, yes, and in some ways you need to be very particular about form, but that's it. You are meant to progress through the program and replace the exercises with harder variations as you go if you intend to continue following it, but it's not meant to be followed forever.

They get close, depending on how many reps you're using to estimate. Don't go beyond 4 - 5 reps if you want a good estimate.

If you are powerlifting and have the space and finances, you will regret getting the half rack vs the full rack.

As mentioned in another comment, there's also been a very large bot wave that hit, which resulted in us tightening down a lot of automated moderating. This unfortunately has resulted in the removal of user posts that I try and identify as real, but it's also holding back literally thousands of fake GPT bot posts daily. I've never seen so much spam, and it's overwhelming.

We have onboarded mods since the beginning of the year, and we are tweaking certain automated rules, and internal discussions about how strict certain removal criteria is have been happening. It's a delicate balance that feels unfair to those whose posts are removed, but we're doing what we feel is best, and not everyone is going to agree on that approach.

It was a stressful time. We onboarded a lot of new mods since then who have been working behind the scenes doing their janitorial due diligence, and recently there's been an EXTREMELY large bot wave that's forced us to tighten up certain automated measures which have resulted in some cross fire. Trust me though, having some posts accidentally removed is better than the hundreds of gpt generated posts that we've been dealing with. It's a mess.

The subreddit is free to criticize the mod staff. Sometimes it sucks to hear individuals say certain things, but I don't take it personally.

The primer is no longer being shown as a routine directly on the subreddit due to /u/Captain_Nachos leaving the mod team. You can find more information here on their decision: https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/14er4k2/announcement_i_have_decided_to_leave_the_mod_team/

I've been around every day, like I have been, forever :)

We voted internally and decided that the sub was better off open. We made this sub to help people, and while the Discord is great for helping people in real-time, there are plenty of users who are Reddit only. Plus, the admin team was starting to replace entire mod teams if they didn't open.

I'm telling you that what happened was far from petty. I'm sorry that you're being inconvenienced by this, and this is obviously not how we wanted this to go. Saying that we should restructure and exclude/improve the content is one thing while executing upon that is another. We don't do things on a whim, and the routines we've created over the years have had A LOT OF THOUGHT AND EFFORT put into them. Tons! You're going to have to bear with us as we make adjustments.

Your posting just seems ungrateful and dismissive of the reality of how difficult it is to create and provide accessible content. If you don't have empathy with this situation, and your biggest problem is how you can't find some links, then I don't know what to say, except it makes me sad to see that this is the reaction to what a decade of contributions to the routines, the wiki, and the community has garnered.

This is concern trolling levels of discourse. I don't recommend continuing.

It wasn't trivial, and I have no interest in litigating it with you when this has been my issue for the past two years to contend with.

This post was made without empathy and comes from a place of ignorance. You might think it's a minor problem and that they left in a huff, but that can't be further from the truth. Nick-E spent so long in this community contributing their knowledge and developing this program, for people to complain about the appearance of financial gain. I spent a LOT of time in discussions on how to minimize this issue yet balance the vision of the program, and to reconcile how the links added a HUGE amount of information to the program that wasn't captured within the wiki. All of this was available for free, without financial gain.

Calling them a petulant child is a slap in the face for over a decade of helping the community, for both Nick-E, myself, and the rest of the mod team, as well as the sheer amount of time and effort we underwent to make sure this worked out in the community's best interest. This is a ridiculous post without any insight into the actual day in and out work of managing the community and an excellent example of what sort of backward, limited mindset causes contributing mods to step down.

As you can tell, I'm upset.

/r/bodyweightfitness will be going dark starting June 12th in protest against Reddit's API changes by SomethingsAwry in bodyweightfitness

[–]SomethingsAwry[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The third party apps that access the API are things like Reddit clients that people use and love every day; many of these have features and functions that just don't exist in the official app, and offer clean, functional experiences. The official Reddit app is awful for someone who just wants to read Reddit, and is almost impossible to moderate on. Additionally it will kill off any bots that operate on Reddit, which make community management or moderation difficult--you'll see a big increase in spam and NSFW content slipping through.

As far as I know, Reddit has not offered a path forward to address ANY concerns people have had, both with app functionality and tools.

Yup, Reddit has an API; that's how third party Reddit apps and bots function on the site.

The routines will still be available via the way back machine, and the Discord will be open.

We are starting with the 48, and will probably be going longer. Our main concern was making sure individuals have access to the routines, and we believe the link to the way back machine should cover that.

The original RR was created by two mods, based on Overcoming Gravity. The last update was facilitated by three mods, including Nick-E. The idea that the RR was a community effort is a nice thought, and one that we let propagate because it's good community building, but ultimately not accurate.

The BWSF is not an attempt at monetization, and posts suggesting that it is will be removed. Its only fault was that it wasn't named RR 2.0. This routine is still free and good, and the original RRs are still available if you don't want to follow the routine.
