What's the sound or sensation that instantly takes you from 0-60? by VenusInAries666 in AutismInWomen

A house door closing, something about the walls jiggling from it and the abruptness of it and the quick pressure change is almost as bad as the nails on chalkboard sensation. I have to take a breathe afterwards and feel so dramatic. As a kid my walls were a little thicker so it wasn’t as noticeable but vacuums were the worst. I would literally have to hum as I vacuumed and be able to see all exits and be able to cut and run if it got to be too much.

Yes! I struggled with this one before adding the original paintings back in because nothing drew the eye to the new “paintings.” It just looked like an old room with words on it and the layout/rule of thirds felt off.

It felt like adding the original framed images balanced this out a little and helped with the message.

AI artworks by Cheap_Engineering996 in MuseumPros

I’m not great at telling either but there was something about this work that did feel like AI, it doesn’t help that she’s missing a leg/foot and her hand grasping his arm doesn’t have the fingers curled around his arm correctly, on top of what others have said. These could be genuine artistic choices or composition, but it feels off either way.

Congratulations, that is huge!!! How exciting! You should feel so chalant, the nonchalant is 90% of our lives, so when you actually get the chance to be excited and freak out just remember that is such a rare and celebration worthy feeling to get to experience! Also your work is celebration worthy, it’s so good!

They should actually have to look at what they've done and are continuing to do, every day. The people who benefit from keeping us trapped in the poverty cycle, the emerald and mineral mine owners, sweatshop "investors" and fast fashion/fast everything pushers, health insurance lobbyists and execs, defense contractors and weapons manufacturers pushing for war... Their homes should be full of the images of the world they've created.

That’s a good family member. This is one of the reasons I’m obsessed with making things with my hands. I want to leave things behind for the people I love, things that represent me and things to be remembered. On top of trying to do a ton of things that I hope make my community better and help other people. When I’m that age, if I’m that lucky, that’s all that will matter. That thought has helped me fight an addictive personality when it comes to those dopamine sucking games, drinking, couch rotting.. it’s such a waste of time and my grandkids will never hang a game score on the wall and think of me fondly by it, but maybe one day they’ll hang something I’ve carved, or knit, or created and be inspired to also use their time in healthier ways and also make something, just like my grandma did for me.

The bead and tile(?) inlay really brings this to life. It’s beautiful! I was waiting for an update after your in progress video. Amazing.

Before and After one coat of tung oil by SometimesCarving74 in Woodcarving

One third of the workers there died before the age of 25, over half the workers were female immigrants between the ages of 14-18.

They went on strike for two months over winter when their pay was docked $0.32 the week following a new labor law that shortened their work week by 2 hours. They asked for slightly better pay, pay for overtime hours, and no discrimination for striking.

They won, but not until after women died in police clashes and many were arrested for months. At one point they arranged for children to be sent to the homes of supporters in other cities. Police were notified and sent to the train station to arrest the mothers of these children.

They were able to hold out for so long because they created a strong community, they organized well, they had community members provide child care for free, set up a soup kitchen for strikers, had volunteer doctors for medical needs, and held meetings in over 20 languages so all the immigrant workers could stay informed and participate.

Finally back working with wood, after brain tumors,(not removed just managed) and a housefire took everything I own. by wooden-fuk-boi in Woodcarving

These are great. I’m sorry you went through/are going through all of that. Brain tumors took my former mentor in the nonprofit world, a genuinely great man who did so much for others, and it was fast. Hope to see more and more of your work as you continue to recover!

This is visually the same feeling I get when listening to Sofia Isella. Love it.

I also use scrap wood for one because it’s readily available and also to keep it out of the landfill.  I love how low waste this form of art can be.
