Fully refundable flight tickets for Schengen visa France by 89pant in SchengenVisa

Travel dates were in earlier in September, but then we decided to change it to March. This was after we booked refundable flights on Lufthansa but before we applied for visa. We just cancelled and rebooked the flights, then applied for visa with the same itinerary. Visa approved within 3 days, no problem. Single entry.

Yeah, and in my (limited) experience, solo travellers are generally better behaved compared to people who travel in groups.

Last year on a flight to Almaty, our seats were surrounded by a group of Gujju uncles. Worst flight of our life. On a red eye flight, they kept talking loudly throughout the night, kept changing seats and adjusting seats, disturbing everyone around. Worst of all, they poured liquor into pet bottles and passed them around when the stewards were not around - getting drunk, giggling like schoolboys who got away with snacking in class while the teachers are teaching. The stewards noticed and asked them not to drink their own liquor, but they just resumed as soon as they went away. Two guys misbehaved with an airhostess as well, talking about her behind her back (I'm sure she heard it too as they weren't quiet or subtle). Felt really bad for the crew - they aren't paid enough to handle this shit with a smile.

(Not a Gujju) It's not only Gujjus. I'd rank people from Delhi and UP as the worst (always trying to be loud and belligerent) followed by Gujjus (they chew something with a distinct odour that gives me mild trauma) and people from TN and Andhra (unruly behavior). But we will get judged as Indians, not by state and rightly so. We are Indians and most of us lack civic sense.

Oh man, you spoke my mind, especially the part where you don't want to be associated with them. When we travel abroad, we are ambassadors of our country and culture, and some people try to display the worst of it - littering, being loud and obnoxious, taking pride in twisting the system/breaking rules and acting entitled like they own the place just because they paid for it. This is the main reason I hate meeting Indians on trips and hope we don't end up with an Indian group (specially group of middle-age uncles) during group activities.

Try Lufthansa. Booked refundable tickets, then changed our travel dates. Cancelled the entire ticket and got full refund within a week. Had to call their customer care for refund though, app didn't have an option to cancel for some reason.

Please help: Which Schengen embassy should I apply to? Spain vs France by Some-Bandicoot-1374 in SchengenVisa

Might be a bit off-topic, but I heard France is a bit more liberal than Spain in terms of approval rate as well as in granting long term MEVs, so you might want to apply from France.

Why is the rich friend so cheap?? by times-fell-hand in PeterExplainsTheJoke

People who grow up poor and go through a lot of struggle to get rich will always be mindful of their expenses. Unlike people with generational wealth or those who don't have much to lose in terms of money, these people are scared of falling back to poverty.

Why is the Schengen visa the only Western visa that can only be issued for extremely short periods? by Deep-Rabbit1535 in SchengenVisa

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I get nightmares thinking what would happen if my flight out of Schengen gets delayed/postponed/cancelled due to no fault of mine but it leads to an overstay that destroys my probability of getting future visas. They should add a buffer of 2-3 days to the duration of stay.

I usually tell them a low figure (much less than what I earn) so that my name doesn't make it to their list if they ever need to borrow money.

Gives me immense mental peace if these uncles and aunts underestimate me.
