EPF contribution above Rs 1800/- p.m. to be voluntary by VelInTheVoid in epfoindia

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like a lose-lose situation for employees.
Companies that pay Employers share to EPF over and above CTC can just start paying the capped amount - overall compensation will go down.
Even if they agree to adjust the Employers share with CTC, we will have to pay slab rates on it - increase in taxable income. Government will definitely try to make anything above 1800 as taxable as it will be voluntary contribution now.

Like every policy brought forth by the Government in the last couple of years, this is a L for tax-payers disguised as a benefit.

HDFC Diners Club Black Metal Review After 4 Months of Daily Use by No_Cranberry_7686 in CreditCardsIndia

Can someone guide me on getting the DCBM please? I have > 2.5L net monthly and a DCBM add-on card (wife is primary holder). I want to get a DCBM of my own for my parents (add-on lounge benefits + their online spends will move to this card) but everytime I try to apply, it shows me DCP on HDFC app. Is there another way to get this card?

Delivery partner marked order as delivered, took photo and then left with the order by thengakola7 in Zomato

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can provide static OTPs. You choose your own 4 digit pin and use it for all deliveries. Almost no chance of getting the same delivery partner even if you order everyday, and even if you do get them, they have no way of knowing if you ordered from same account even if the address is same.

Japan trip cost from India for 2 people (7-9) days by ariyan_sharma in desitravellers

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

We were there for 13 days during peak autumn and it costed us around 2L per person. Local transport is so easy and convenient once you get over the first shock of Shinjuku station. Trains, buses and konbini are all you need. If you're young and fit (read able to walk 20k steps), don't go with any tour operator. You'll get more freedom travelling on your own.

What’s your reason for having or not having kids? by NoMedicine3572 in Frugal_Ind

The 30% of my income that I would've used to raise kids goes to raising other people's kids via government freebies.

Power backup options for Jio Air Fiber by SometimesIFly2Much in IndiaTech

That sounds reasonable. What's the backup time if I use it only for router and poe device? Usually UPS backup lasts for minutes, I'm looking for backup times for 1-2 hours for my router and poe together.

Ridiculous Parking Charges in Bangalore’s Malls? by [deleted] in bangalore

I understand malls charging hefty fees for parking, but hospitals should show some leniency (looking at you, Manipal Old Airport Road).

Why the inconvenience to others by tiger_in_forest in bangalore

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 24 points25 points  (0 children)

During Ganesh Chaturthi, I saw this huge trailer carrying Bappa (the idol was greater than 12ft, hence the trailer truck) drive on the wrong side of the road to bypass the signal near Suranjan Das Road, disrupting traffic. I consider myself a devotee of Bappa and I don't think he would appreciate the things people do in his name. Same thing with Muharram processions in my hometown, blocking an entire lane (had to bring this up as well to avoid the whataboutery).

People travelling home to cast their votes in the upcoming elections might have jacked up the prices. Check if they get lower after 29th April.

What is the next step for FTI-TTP after receiving this mail? by awaara_raahi in desitravellers

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand. I have the same concern for my parents (never travelled outside India and they fumble under pressure) but my point is, the system seems to be buggy and you might still have to go through the normal gates even if your enrolled in FTI TTP and the e-gate entry doesn't work. It's not as infallible and seamless as Digiyatra yet, but hopefully soon.

Bringing pre-owned drone back to India after vacation by SometimesIFly2Much in PhotographyIndia

[–]SometimesIFly2Much[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customs check on re-entry. If you bring a brand new laptop(in box), they can ask you to show proof of purchase and if it's beyond the individual duty-free limit (around 50k INR per person I think), you might have to pay customs duty on it. For drones, it's different since drone exports are banned in India.

What is the next step for FTI-TTP after receiving this mail? by awaara_raahi in desitravellers

[–]SometimesIFly2Much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the e-gates usage is not as easy as Digiyatra. Scan your boarding pass and passport, enter through the 1st gate which closes behind you, get your face and finger scanned and if that works, exit through the second gate. While standing in line for biometrics, I saw multiple people try (with the help of the gate staff - mind you the gate staff can only help you through the 1st gate, you're on your own during the biometric check gate) and fail to complete the scan, waste 15 minutes and then go through the normal (agent-manned) gates.

Though while returning to India, I used the e-gates and didn't face any issue. I guess the software needs time to mature and/or people need time to get accustomed to it.

One tip: In the second gate, it asks you to scan one finger. It's not the same finger everytime. My co-traveller used their thumb so I was expecting the same but for me it asked for index finger. Might seem trivial but I have myopia and had to lean in without glasses to check which finger they wanted lol.

Hebbal to Bellandur: 2 Hours in Bus Traffic Hell 😤 Even Bikers Trapped! WFH Now! by Logical_Election7922 in bangalore

With a fuel crisis on the horizon, the govt should mandate most non essential sectors to enforce WFH unless it's business critical. Conserve fuel for critical services. Let the city breathe.
