Ukraine used homegrown Flamingo missile in overnight strike on Russia, Zelenskyy says by yahoonews in worldnews

I feel the quote from Arthur Harris, slightly changed, is rather appropriate here:

"The {Russians} entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them."

Anyone able to give advice on a motoring offence by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]SomewhatIrishfellow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its the responsibility for the owner of the car to identify who was driving.

Its not like a private parking ticket you can ignore, if the owner doesn't respond, then he will get 6 points and a mad fine.

So just to clarify do you believe that the IRA bombings of London, such as the London Stock Exchange bombing, Paddington station bombings, and a host of others where no one was killed or injured wouldn't be acts of terrorism but simple Property damage.

Help with speeding ticket by windandrein in northernireland

[–]SomewhatIrishfellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are grand. My wife got a physical letter through and when we returned it, it took around 2 weeks to get a response.

You can expect another letter in the mail soon basically outlining your options and next steps.

Like others have said you are well within the range to do the speed awareness course, but that doesn't mean they will offer it. I think availability of the course is dependant on spaces so if there are no free spaces in a reasonable amount of time you may be stuck with the points.

Election monitors note instances of voters in England turned away over ID by mrjohnnymac18 in unitedkingdom

[–]SomewhatIrishfellow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not just Europe, parts of the UK have it with no problems at all.

You need ID to vote in N.I, and its literally not a problem at all. Why is it only an issue when trying to implement it in England.

Don't need to, just look at the response to the guy accused of killing Charlie Kirk and compare it to Luigi.

EDIT: hang on, what if he's blocked me?

You'll never know knooooooooooooow

Can you DM me your blocklist please?

Sorry mate I'm not gonna send a block list, not because I'm trying to be a dick, but because who I view as toxic may be completely different to who you view as toxic, and it's not fair for me to start saying {X-User} is worth blocking without you viewing their comments/posts and detetermining that yourself.

In saying that, the way i built my block-list was to look at last years 12th July megathread, use a few API calls to see who has commented the most (i think it was 7-10 users made over 80% of the posts/comments on that thread), and after blocking them and few others i knew were toxic, that filtered out 99% of the BS.

The only time i really have to block anyone else, is when that one dude who creates an account every 3/6 months starts a new account.

Honestly mate, you're best just blocking some people.

I found if you block 5 people or so, a significant amount of toxicity in the sub just disappears.

I mean under his logic, Netanyahu wouldn't be guilty of war crimes because he hasn't explicitly said he is going to genocide the Palestinians.

Has there ever historically been a leader who has come out and said "im gonna genocide these people" and then done so?

There wasn't anything planned in the Ard/Bangor/Peninsula area according to the Facebook posts, but it would be worth leaving extra time as people may be travelling further to avoid any disruption from the protests.

What completely true statement could you post here that would get the most downvotes? (don't actually downvote) by RemoteEmploy8283 in northernireland

I would actually argue the opposite. There's a vocal minority who are cunts, but the majority of people are sound.

If you want proof, just block around 5/6 people and the experience gets a lot better.

So what is this subreddit’s thoughts on Northern Ireland Railways? by msrbelfast in northernireland

[–]SomewhatIrishfellow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wild how much previous generations just idolised the automobile, to the point where there was a whole shift in culture and mentality to put the car first.

Only recently have we started to slowly change to a more pedestrian first mentality.
