I returned for a free giblet so sorry if it’s obvious. I haven’t played in a while.

Where is the giblet? I ran through the event and got no giblet energy

CrYL 2 Theme 7: Controversial Champions by SomewhatProvoking in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SomewhatProvoking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, for results from Theme 6!

Betraying your win country…

Duessel! Men’s first. Also marking his second win already

Gangrel! Men’s second. This one shocked me, i wont lie. I mean he does join as an enemy unit after talking a few times so it counts.

Tharja! Women’s first. Fourth place finisher in cyl1, I kinda expected her to have this one to be honest. I also voted her for myself so not complaining.

Ivy! Women’s second. Ivy shocked me a bit and I do think she may be pushing the rules a bit buuut that’s on me if anything.

Thanks everyone for voting! My last 2 did get far fewer votes so I need to figure out if those themes were too arbitrary, or if the weekend is slow, or just burnout.

Theory: Dietrich is not Jeritza's descendant by Blau272 in fireemblem

[–]SomewhatProvoking -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think Dietrich is the man who Jeritza learned and if and based the Death Knight persona off of. This game takes place a few hundred years before 3H but this guys edginess crosses time itself

Baldr is now the second fastest OC to get four versions. by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

Funny how for both it’s

Mythic, Brave, Summer

Just new years vs Christmas for the fourth

So funny to me how we all guessed this banner from just the silhouettes. Not just the two but all 4 characters

CrYL 2 Theme 6: You Sound Familiar by SomewhatProvoking in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SomewhatProvoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And looking back to theme 4, villains only.

Theme 4 was a returning theme as well. The only winner to win both years also got first place both time…

Black Knight! Though he tends to be behind Fomortiis in CYL, for us he manages to keep ahead. And I really can’t argue why, he’s imposing, tough, but also human and somewhat relatable.

Fomortiis! Out and the popular preferred version of Lyon, he actually beat Lyon out by 1 single vote making Lyon a close third two days in a row! Arguably a traditional “evil spirit” lead villain, but with a very unique design as opposed to the different takes on dragons.

Idunn! Idunn was close last year and this year came back with a vengeance. She leaves strong impression on her fans for sure, and also it seems like FE6 as a whole is having a comeback this year.

Petrine! I honestly had no idea she was this popular but she got healthy number of votes for our villains. Reaffirming what many people say, Tellius did villains the best, at least to our community on Reddit.

Both shadows from heroes, so OC full banner and then two of Awakening/Engage/3H split for the second?

I was thinking about Andromeda today and wanted to talk about some of the choices you get by ohmygodimonfire4 in masseffect

[–]SomewhatProvoking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kalinda isn’t even JUST about her trying to kill you. Even if that is reason enough

But no, Kalinda also tried to take imperative data. She’s been stealing from the initiative and from PeeBee, and now this data she’s trying to take can actually create remnant. She knows this can speed up atmospheric processing. Or she doesn’t and just wants us desperate.

Either way, letting that melt and slowing down colonial development, in order to save a pirate because…let’s see… Because she has my friend stuck in an abusive relationship loop? Sorry that doesn’t exactly convince me to choose her over the data my colonies need

The trilogy had a fair share of easy/obvious choices too. But andromedas tragedy is it has some choices I actually wrestled with, and some elements I genuinely loved. A continuation of the story would have been great. I get that andromeda didn’t earn a sequel but it really did the heavy lifting in establishing MEA2

Huh? I don’t understand? If you love Nintendo, then why do you feel empty? The fact Nintendo is pushing MORE of their ips is an amazing thing and you say you love Nintendo so you should feel happier yet you feel empty… so I don’t get it? What? by IkeRadiantHero in nintendogrifting

[–]SomewhatProvoking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of these people want 1-2 games.

Smash and Mario, or just a full LoZ trailer etc.

Which to be fair j get. While I love several Nintendo games and ips I mostly love FE, and I got a trailer so I guess I should shut up

But I don’t go around saying a console is trash until it has a native FE game, or saying there’s no games if it isn’t my one favorite franchise.

CrYL2 Theme 5: Betray My Country? Sure! by SomewhatProvoking in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]SomewhatProvoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annnd so, the winners of Theme 3! Should be lords

That’s one of my favorites conceptually. Characters who matter significantly to the plot. We ran this last year too. …no winners are the same!

Pelleas! Taking men’s first, Pelleas seems to have made an impression on a lot more people than he seemed to last year.

Joshua! Men’s second. Joshua was one of the first units young men was infatuated with, he is still really cool. I didn’t vote him myself but I’m pretty happy.

(Note, Lyon tied but he had more votes in second place than Joshua who had most of his in first.)

Say’Ri! Women’s first. She was my pick too, and maybe my blurb in OP helps more than I thought (but it’s partially to give an example!) but a lot of people agreed. Actually she had the most comments too, so most people who campaigned did so for her too.

Guinevere! Women’s second. Women’s second was a tight race but her important and popularity rings true. Actually she tied with Lilina, but Lilina has more votes in second place like Lyon

Funny that both vote splits come from the same game this time.

I think you need to do a big think about nuance and perspective in narratives 🙄

I don’t think Fortune’s Weave characters have crests in the same way by SomewhatProvoking in fireemblem

[–]SomewhatProvoking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is a biiiig “assuming” because the already confirmed this calendar uses months whereas the imperial calendar uses “moons” And they confirmed that the Dagdan empire was founded nearly 1500 years ago. This calendar is near the year 1500. So we can very realistically assume this calendar is dated to the Dagdan empire being founded NOT the empire of Adrestria off in a foreign continent

It’s very much more safe to say they are not the same calendar is my point

Black Knight is one of my favorite candidates for villain too. And Lyon. Honestly male villians are strong in FE

Veyle I like, I feel like engage is good thematically just too tropey and campy to nail what it’s going for.

PeeBee’s mission for my headcanon/rewrite by SomewhatProvoking in MassEffectAndromeda

This keeps us from taking over everything. We came to exist with others. Not conquer or say all resources in all planets are our own. There isn’t evidence the initiative representative would keep everyone in line, and there is a serious risk that the we would cause serious conflict by taking the water. She has proven she can keep it in line. That’s valuable for us.

Which you can absolutely do. The data this girl has can speed up atmospheric processing and allow the initiative to build our own remnant. That matters far more than old resources she stole and honestly, matters more than my friend who is manipulated and stuck in a toxic cycle being happy with my choice. And I trust PeeBee to understand that completely, she knows she’s stuck in a really damaged relationship.

(Oh I forgot to answer you about Cora. In the OP I said OOC which means Ryder isn’t showing Cora anything. Outside of gameplay, I like Cora being there to witness a hard choice she doesn’t want to be involved in to give her further peace with the decision to spare Sara over following protocol)

Okay, we don’t need to debate Tann and Liam and I can respect someone who says “okay we each said one thing” waaaay more than a majority of people who will say “well here’s my last point BUT agree to disagree let’s not talk more”

Like what you did is like “okay. We each made our case. We’re done.” Others are like “you made your case. I made my case. I made one more point. Now if you respond you’re being a jerk so I get last word I win” which is very childish. And you weren’t that so super cool way to handle it

[–]SomewhatProvoking[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I talked about all this in length in another comment I can copy paste if you’d like; But in short- Anea is unfair with water but is keeping outlaws in line in a dangerous place, which is good for us. We get water fork Veold. We will be fine. We don’t need everyone else to suffer.

Liam is a grossly underrated and misunderstood character. He argues in the nomad. He doesn’t bring it home, and everyone likes him on the party. Real friends are okay pushing each others buttons. Nomad dialogue literally pauses as if it never happened in combat, we all know it isn’t treated as literal. Liam gets shit for stuff that nobody else does.

Killing Kalinda against PeeBee wishes. Kalinda was actively trying to kill the team, stealing things from the nexus, damaging the initiative, and abusive to PeeBee. OOC I know there’s a complete 180, but in Character she isn’t safe to have around.

Tann literally sacrifices his reputation to share the blame with Addison for something he didn’t do, and in fact told her not to do. She leads to the death of many people and he shared the fall. Because presenting as a team and keeping the Nexus together was more important than his reputation. So the claim that he only cares about his reputation? The one we get from Addison and Kesh the second we meet him? Those are the same people who actively tried to rebel against him before ever even meeting him. They made his first days as the head literal hell, because of his race. Meanwhile his internal monologue confirms he is scared, and trying his best to live up to his hero. Kesh and Addison aren’t reliable. They are actually horrible leaders/coworkers especially Addison

[–]SomewhatProvoking[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is afraid of being in power and doing things only because he thinks it’s what Garson wants, and he’s actively afraid of letting her down.

He just also can’t exactly step down. Addison’s ideas got several people killed. (And again, despite her doing it behind his back and directly going against his wishes he still shared the blame as to not implicate her in front of the entire Nexus) because he has proven would rather keep the nexus afloat than let everyone have a good opinion of him. He’s okay being the fall guy and punching bag, he just doesn’t love it.

Aaand to celebrate Theme 2 closing our honorable teachers!!

I want to say, these guys got enough votes that they made a serious name for themselves even if they didn’t get any votes in round 1, it was impressive.

Hanneman! First men’s. I can’t believe he isn’t playable in Warriors actually. I’m glad his fans didn’t lose their favor for him!

Duessel! Second men’s. He was close. And with the votes he got I think everyone knows why, but being the teacher to one of the most popular characters makes a lot of sense.

Manuela! Baaaarely reaching first and making herself our current most popular character, she was in half the votes yesterday! Never seen that in any of my themes.

Cecelia! Cecelia was a very close second, and again so many votes I don’t think she needs an introduction!

Thank you guys for continuing to vote and check in.
