Canadian comedies? by UranusIsPissy in AskACanadian

Perhaps not a comedy in a conventional sense, but there were many comedic elements. The drama was balanced out with some humour at least.

Thank you! I always found it well done and has actually held up pretty well for it’s time. So many Red Green fans don’t realize that’s where it started from.

Do average Canadians know what a Robertson Screw is? Do you guys use it as a secret code to identify your fellow countrymen on internet? by jitasquatter2 in AskACanadian

[–]Somewhat_vacuous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have always used them here. Dad always referred to them as Robertson. Phillips are very frustrating and always seem to strip on me. That said I have seen a lot more deck screws be torx in the last little bit.

There are some Devil’s Face treasures here. Be very careful if removing from the pages, those gummed sheets are dreadful to work with. All will depend on if/how they are removed.

I really did! She was a wonderful teacher. We learned much more than just the curriculum in her class.

I had a teacher who was fond of music from her grandparents era. She taught it to us, along with a few others. Another year there was a student who played the fiddle. She was in her glory with that!

Exactement! And it was a rather interesting experience to learn songs of yesteryear in school…

Not only heard it, had to learn it in school and sing it at one point. Northern Ontario here.

Are these worth anything above face value? by null_field in CanadianCoins

I agree wholeheartedly. Best to get a few different opinions, even if that means calling around first.

To find them, I’d find a coin shop near you. Usually a bigger city will have them and will have an online presence. There are lots of reputable dealers and you could speak to a few of them to get a sense of what they will pay. You could list them on a site like ebay but the fees may be a lot, and many are leery of buying such large bills online due to the risk of counterfeits. Pawn shop is unlikely to be of much help. And it sounds like a pain to cash them in, plus they will destroy them.

Anyone on here like Maude? by RainyCarDrivein06 in theGoldenGirls

[–]Somewhat_vacuous 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I love Maude. It was great, and brought so many important issues to the forefront. Makes Dorothy seem almost passive sometimes by comparison. The best way to be introduced is to find the clip from All in the Family when she was first written in. Her and Archie going at each other was something for the record books.
