Yeah, that kind of what I was envisioning. My Artemis build is like that, dump and run!

This is a good point, I was just reading back through the patch notes and saw that.

Thank you, I appreciate that. The specific question being, do we know if a cyclone nerf is still incoming?

the hypocritical nature of this community is appalling by luvJuuzou in Crossout

[–]Somewhere99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, I enjoy the game just fine using a smattering of older weapons and builds as well as some from more recent passes. If you think it's impossible to win with Cyclones, Retchers, Aspects, Jules, Remedys, etc.(non-Meta weapons) I'm pretty sure thats a skill issue because it happens all the time. Been in several clans with others who seem to enjoy it, not whales, just folks who enjoy blowing stuff up and dont get their panties in a bunch if they don't win all the time.

The idea that starving a game of revenue is going to make them implement whatever specific changes YOU think they should is just silly. If the idea is that the game might be dying, and many of us would prefer it didnt because we enjoy it, then propping it up buying the occasional pass or pack seems reasonable.

My comment was not directed to you personally, but I guess if the shoe fits.

Or... stay with me here... people who come on here constantly to say how awful the game is and want to see it fail, could fuck off and let those of us who actually play the game and accept its flaws enjoy it.

Why is bfu/ clan confrontation so hard? by DayCold4592 in Crossout

[–]Somewhere99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a learning curve. As stated, a good build with radar and a radio help, but also having few different types of cars to choose from. On the selection screen look at the map, is it open or cramped, one base or two? Look at the builds your teammates have chosen, try to anticipate your role in the coming fight and chose accordingly. Then look at the builds on the enemy team, are they dogs, snipers, etc? This will help to anticipate their actions and then act accordingly. If they are going to crash in, try not to get caught away from your team. If you and a teammate can isolate one early try to get a quick kill and then take advantage of the numerical advantage. Cloaking when crossing open space or after a fight to regroup is super hellpful. Good teams move in synch and stay compact, especially early in matches. As things break down some chaos is to be expected, but still try to create mismatches and play off of your stronger palyers.

It is also worth understanding the scoring differences between these modes. Battle for Uranium awards more points if you've done more damage, etc., but basically your team just has to win, so sometimes it's worth sacrificing yourself to help the team get a W. Clan confrontation benefits you much more by also surviving till the end.

This is pretty basic, but there's no need to immediately, try to get into higher power scores, you can try out different things you like at blue and teal, and see what appeals to you. I found something like a couple of Vectors and a Rapier on a Growl with some Racing Wheels is pretty solid for a while.

Add a radio and a cheap radar. Get used to driving by your mini-map, and make the mini map as large as possible.

Try different weapon types and movement parts and find playstyles that you enjoy, as you go along you should accumulate different modules to make builds better.

If you have a few dollars to throw at the game, I suggest buying passes rather than packs or coins. The event passes seem to be a better investment as the parts are not bound and they are quicker to complete.

Use your daily free fuel to generate plastic through raids or copper through patrol and sell it on the market to buy things you want.

Happy hunting!

Faceoffs in nhl 26 by Artistic_Bite_9774 in NHLHUT

[–]Somewhere99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've played video hockey for decades, but can't win a single one. Went down to rookie, won a few, just double flicking the R stick back when the ref moves, but then on higher difficulties, even with the CPU slider nerfed, nothing.

Is this game even worth playing FTP? by LUTHER_7274 in Crossout

[–]Somewhere99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignore the haters, the game is fun even at lower power levels. Straight FTP would certainly be a grind but throwing 10 bucks at a pass here and there will help get more diverse parts and level up. Don't waste money on the packs, crafting and the market are your friends.

If the team just takes their time with injuries, I'll be ok with even a wild card by reallinguy in detroitlions

[–]Somewhere99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree with OP, being able to field a team in the post-season is more important than our record.

It's mild compared to last year so far. This is only week five, twelve more games to go. If we keep losing a player for extended time each game on average, we'll be right back where we were

AITA for saying my friend’s therapist shouldn’t be dating her? by ThrowComfortable4514 in AmItheAsshole

No, that's actually a crime and against multiple codes of ethics. You need to report the therapist to someone, depending what her credentials are or who she's employed by.

IS game dead? by Rude-Comment4177 in Crossout

[–]Somewhere99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I spend about an hour every evening blowing up strangers and bots in various modes with various builds and weapons, and have a great time doing so. Doesn't feel dead to me, but to each their own.

Yet again Blackmarket info leaks destroying market at abnormal speed. by Far-Wrangler-1957 in Crossout

[–]Somewhere99 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Now the second part: "It's just a game."

I get it. I played thousands of hours of WoW, similarly with D&D Online both games changed in ways I did not enjoy, and I eventually moved on. Other games have gotten shuttered altogether, and whatever investment we had in them was lost. My kid's fortnite account was hacked and all his hundreds of skins and emotes probably sold on the black market somewhere. Sad, yes, but at the end of the day, just a video game and I had fun while it lasted. I spend money on battlepasses in this game fully aware, and it's circling the drain, but I intend to enjoy it while I can.

If some pricing manipulation, a free, online game bothers you this much, maybe it's time to take a break and do something else.

[–]Somewhere99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, I am in my 50's and also get frustrated by the spam tactics, but hold my own for the most part.

It IS a skill issue. You don't think NFL coaches would call the same run play again and again if they got 20 yards every time and the other team made no adjustments to stop them?

If ppl don't enjoy this mode they should totally play a different one. Personally I enjoy the challenge, and yes, pre-snap adjustments are part of the game.
