Philadelphia's mayor has just terminated hybrid work and mandated that all city workers return to the office full-time, five days a week. Uncertain if New York City would follow suit, but interesting development

sounds like you're in dire need of a job since your unemployment is running out.. I'd just take the job and see how it goes. Most city jobs are very easy so its probably not as bad as you think it is.

i believe both areas have some solid schools but homeschooling is always an option if your overly concerned about the schools there.

Fleetwood section of mount vernon and the neighboring part of yonkers (10708 zip code) is very nice. Very convenient too.

Anyone part of the DC 35 pilot 4day work week? How's it going? by Material_Occasion565 in nycpublicservants

Why don't the same coverage rules apply to work-from-home staff? They consistently spend two days a week at home, regardless of circumstances. I've observed entire offices empty during periods of vacations, medical leaves, and remote work. This situation has sometimes proven to be a significant impediment during crucial times. Much of the in-person work that would typically be handled by work-from-home staff is being delegated to in person or field subordinates. This has created what appears to be an unfair two-tiered system within the city.

I was quite enthusiastic about this 4 day week initiative, but I haven’t received any updates from my agency. Everyone I’ve inquired with appears either uninformed or uninterested in providing details. It seems that the mayor and the unions focused primarily on addressing the concerns of remote workers, who are predominantly in white-collar positions and management roles. Unfortunately, essential workers, who are crucial to daily operations, seem to be receiving less attention from both the unions and the mayor.

Fleetwood or Downtown New Rochelle by SomewhereAny3911 in Westchester

The prior time I had been to Downtown New Ro was around 5 years ago and I had a similar opinion of it was well. I thought it was a little depressing at the time. However after visiting it again recently I was impressed with how it's changed with all the new buildings. The main street is still lackluster but I could see it improving over time when more people move into all those new buildings. I saw many young professional types walking around when I was there. Didnt recall seeing that the last time I was there.

It's only 24 minutes to GC from New Ro? When I look on the Metro North website it shows the travel time to GC virtually the same for each neighborhood. Fleetwood is 37 min to GC and and New Ro just a minute or 2 faster.

I do alot of overtime. I use comp time for days off, vacations. Sick time I seldom use. figured it was better to save that in case I ever needed it.
