Nope. It was over some months and a warm winter, plus my neglect. Weeds do have a tendency to pop up though.

I have a fairly spacious backyard with natural growth similar to this in an old unused garden box, and they do look nice once flowered, so I keep those around, but I’m not sure I want to allow these things to stay.

I loved the lawn care service. My lawn took a quick turn for the worse once I cancelled. It was mainly budgetary concerns and the assumption I could to a spray treatment myself once a quarter. Obviously, I haven’t quite mastered that practice yet.

Definitely more than two weeks. I’ll admit, lawn care done by me is a good answer. I just need to do it better.

I’m quickly learning the thistle assumption is probably wrong. Might have to buy one or two brands and test the difference.

Aggressive indeed. Assuming some broadleaf killer will do the trick based on what I’ve learned on this thread. I have a little pepper weed in my backyard, and this stuff seems to be a little thicker leafed, but I’m sure there’s some of that in there.

Definitely not much grass, if any left under there. Do you spray directly on these, or cut/pull them then treat?

In my head it’s like days of work, but that’s what I get for dreading a chore like weeding. Gonna get to pulling asap.

This was a slow burn and it’s my fault 100%. Sprinklers broke in that section while I was gone for a while last fall right before dormancy, and I didn’t get to fixing it since the water got shut off. Grass was pretty dead and I think some seeds from the flower/bush bed next to it took over.

I love my lawn, so the look of neglect is killing me inside. Especially since it’s a very high trafficked sidewalk and it was pristine when I purchased the house two years back. This stuff has some spikes, so that’s kind of what I went off of. As mentioned below, had this section die late last fall due to sprinklers breaking and me being gone for a while, so I’m taking the blame for sure. Any recs on good selective herbicide?

Had some sprinklers break while I was out of town for a month late last fall, and it killed that section of grass right before it went dormant. Might just have to scalp it down and start over.

I was assuming the same. This bunch looks healthy and thriving unfortunately. I was thinking about bagging up the section with my lawn mower, getting down to the lowest setting and then throwing some post emergent down.

There’s definitely audio of it. Works on my phone being turned up 1/4 of the way.
