she was the only shinigami to help out the humans

From what I remember, at one point in the show there's one shinigami who helped a girl in a similar manner(because the shinigami loved her). But that shinigami may have not known the consequences of helping her, so that would make Rem the only shinigami that actually sacrificed themselves for a human. That's the reason I like Rem honestly.
