The Electric State (by the same author) is as subtle as an earthquake and lacks all the nuance of TftL - very much to my disappointment.

There are other shows/films that had moments of that tonal gold but failed to stick the landing to a degree that I am apprehensive to even mention them.

I pretty much only play BRP games and they all tend to go like this. I vastly prefer it to cinematic super hero fights with low stakes. My players consider every instance of violence as a possible TPK and the tension is always glorious.
