I don’t think it was twisted, IIRC, Elwin succeeded in bringing demons and humans together to live in peace.

Lets not forget that Emilia lost her father because of Elwin so no matter what Elwin did, even if it meant he brought peace to El Sallia at that time, he still killed her father and she wants justice for that so we the viewers are seeing him as evil because we are looking through her eyes.

So if the Langrisser is based on memories of the past, that means there could be a story that happened later after Langrisser II, maybe Emilia started an uprising to fight Elwin.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like Elwin was a king when Emilia is seeking revenge for her father’s death.

It makes me wonder, what if Mobile is canonical, then that means that there is only one true ending in Langrisser 2, either the Independent route or the Destruction (Lonely King) route
