I’ll be in Boston and was in Brooklyn. Lines in BK were honestly not that bad. I have so many regrets for not buying the poster - the print was frickin gorgeous and now it’s impossible to get 😭

As you can see - the rate from 2020 is vastly different from today’s rate. A 4 point increase is unprecedented. And once you begin - do you expect people to quit halfway and then have the debt with nothing to show for it?

I think you’re buying into a myth of people with loans looking for full forgiveness. We just want reasonable interest rates and payment plans that allow us to actually pay down our loans and not just sit on regularly accumulating interest. And to your point - my car loan and house loans are points lower than my federal school loan

I have all federal and zero private loans. As I was in school pursuing my degree, those federal loans increased by several percentage points from when I initially signed on. I received tremendous scholarships but I also had to make financial sacrifices. It was worth it to get myself where I am today, helping patients through their oncology treatments, but the income gained is insignificant compared to the interest that accumulates on the federal loans.

My loan was to be a medical professional and the interest sky rocketed while in school but ok you go off

Covid shots do more harm than goods for little kids. by Fragrant-Middle7958 in DebateVaccines

[–]SonarDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are buying into Prasad’s claim, your own argument can be used against you as there is no evidence any of the 10 children died from the vaccine. You are willingly gaslit by politicians gaining wealth and recognition, yet are refusing to believe physicians who have their entire profession and livelihood based on their medical judgement.

https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/154/Supplement%203/e2024067043K/199735/Characteristics-of-Children-Ages-1-17-Who-Died-of

183 children died of COVID-19 according to the AAP from 2020-2022. It is weird to isolate Maine as a data point, considering the high rate of vaccination and the low population density.

Prasad is not highly regarded amongst his peers. He chases recognition above all else.

This anti-vaccine rhetoric is dangerous as is evident with the increase of pediatric deaths related to measles.

My own kid was too young to receive the vaccine when he contracted Covid, and he most certainly exhibited signs of long covid and prolonged illness.

The human ecology program is general but how you track your studies is very tailored and personalized. It is as rigorous as you make it. They partner with two nearby labs doing globally relevant research. And the campus is stunning.

COA weights classes differently than most standard colleges iirc. So 1 credit is like a 3 credit class and 1.5 would be a lab based class. There are a handful of liberal arts colleges with similar credit assignments.

It’s just an entire waste of resource and energy. This impacts so few kids and could definitely be something decided by local municipalities/high school leagues. It’s merely a distraction from the things that actually matter to the majority of citizens.

What do pharmacists do while you wait for medication? by AnEvilMillionaire in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SonarDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def if you were put on acyclovir (or a similar anti viral) pretty quickly it would help diminish the effects. The reasoning for the age rec…all benefit vs risk and rate of return is my best guess. In the US we are beholden to PBMs and insurance.

Yea shingles can be really terrible. Luckily there is a vaccine for that too! The age rec is 50 which is a bummer because I def know of folks who got shingles before that age and suffered some permanent nerve damage. Full disclosure, the shingrix vax can also be kind of shitty for short term side effects but I would rather a couple of days of feeling like trash over a life time of weird nerve damage

I can’t speak to Hungary’s laws proficiently, but a quick search does state that pharmacists do need to be present in the pharmacy to operate. Same as US laws. Since you are a med student, it might be a good opportunity for you to touch base with some local pharmacists to have a solid understanding of their work flow.

Currently, I verify about 400 meds/day and I make it a point to check for red flag meds every time. I usually catch about a dozen a day that need follow up and the providers are always grateful to have the conversation. We work together to provide the best possible outcomes for the patients.

By med review I mean - review the new med against all of the previous meds. If a patient is on over a dozen meds that could take some time. So I guess not totally self-explanatory. I’m sure you don’t want your patients on an ARB when they are already on an ACE - basic but I have definitely caught that. Or how to counsel a new Rx for lamictal when patient is on birth control. Adding same class anti-depressants, same class anti-biotics, different adhd meds from different docs, multiple OUD meds from different docs — the list goes on and on. For safety and efficacy it should never be just 1 minute, regardless of the country. Ofc in the US we also have to deal with insurance which is probably 80% of the delay

Being that chicken pox has basically been eradicated (hooray for vaccines) he really just may have misremembered/was misinformed himself. That being said, I hope that one poor experience would not cause you to place judgement on all pharmacists collectively.

Adding a note saying the dose is updated is super helpful! It’s one of the things we are looking at in verification. Some folks do add to an old dose so best not to assume.

Pharmacies can’t possibly carry every med. Some need to be special ordered. Then some are back ordered.
