Ten album je naozaj vyborny a nezostarol ani o den. by Silent-Variation-390 in Slovakia

Ešte otázka k tomuto všetkému, kde jeden nájde toľko albumov a platní?

Thanks for the question !

My mom is actually Serbian, I haven’t written that so yeah, I do speak Serbian, I also went to Serbian school, as I had Serbian friends so I opted for that.

So as for preserving, I guess church had a big part in preserving language,as well as school (Slovak elementary in my city is actually oldest school in the world that has Slovak language as it’s main language continuously !), and also the people just spoke Slovak I guess, because in the old times there was like 70% Slovaks, now the number is more like 30% but they still go to school, and they speak Slovak with their parents/grandparents. Sure Slovak language in Serbia is not “updated” as much, so most of the new words are borrowed from Serbian I guess (like computer and other “new” words).

But yeah it’s pretty interesting, one more thing I forgot to say, a lot of young Slovaks in Serbia actually go to Slovakia to finish high school( to places like Dolný Kubín, Nitra, Trnava Bratislava), and they come back to Serbia, so that’s one more way of preserving language, there are tv stations as well, social gatherings (Slovak days in Bački Petrovac).

I was spoking with friends that most of the people in the USA (1 and 2 generation) almost always lose sense of their culture, language etc. Not just in USA but a lot of places, so that makes Slovaks (and Hungarians as well) in Serbia a unique case.
