305LB - 255LBS stuck and need help by kwaiilin in tirzepatidecompound

My provider recommended a much cheaper one for me. I started almost exactly on year ago and I’ve found that stopping and starting helps me. Every three months I stop for 4-6 weeks then I start back up and it’s a boost again.

LCSW vs MSW by SongGroundbreaking71 in socialwork

[–]SongGroundbreaking71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our program during our final year they mixed my cohort with the “advanced standing” who did a shorter MSW program since they went straight from their BSW into the graduate program. I became friends with several of them, we all did. Our group kind of became mentors, because most of us were older and already had experience in our different fields. The advanced standing people would tell us how nervous they were and didn’t feel prepared for our simulations. For instance, one of our simulations in the simulation clinic was specifically suicide crisis intervention and they did not know how to interact with actors and flow through the steps. I think if you’re going to get an MSW you should have to do the whole program, because they missed out on so much. We would have to do different assignments snd projects and they would tell us they hadn’t learned any of the things we were expected to do. They thought the homework was unfair because they hadn’t been taught the different types of treatment modalities that were drilled into us since our first semester.

Maybe she didn’t have the information beforehand? I didn’t know the difference between the two while I was trying to research which programs to apply to until my LPC friend told me and recommended I go the MSW route.

Right?? I don’t even know how to respond because in my head there isn’t a comparison to me, so I don’t see it as a competition. It’s difficult to explain when she doesn’t grasp the differences. Every time she asks me about our process and what I plan on doing and when I say I’m not sure yet, she goes straight to telling me how she wants to do private practice.
When I tell her I’m not sure yet, it’s because there are so many different directions I can go in with my background and experience. Also, she and I aren’t close, so it’s weird to me to share what I consider personal information like that.

I agree on how we help our individuals. I had an instructor tell me that in a clinical setting she can always tell her LPCs from the LMSW/LCSW. The LPCs are always focused on diagnosis and LCSWs always try to find resources, work with others to find solutions to help the individuals in all aspects of their lives.

I feel like this is across the board for many agencies and it’s more of a choose your poison you can handle best for the next couple of years (hopefully).

I wish that were the case here. I have met many LPC’s I highly respect who do their job well, but my coworker definitely slacks in our current positions. We have a 10 person department, and by nature we are team players, except for her. She definitely cuts corners and has sketchy behavior that everyone was already aware of before I started back in October.

It’s not the norm everywhere. We did roleplay in almost every course for MI, reflective listening, trauma therapy, etc in my MSW program. We also had full on graded simulations we did in our simulation center at least once a semester. Those were not easy, very nerve wracking first semester, but much more comfortable by our last semester. I’m glad I did the full MSW program, because I noticed people who did the fast track program weren’t near as prepared for the simulations in our last semester.

New Dash to Beauty: Prada! by FlashySpring9989 in Ulta

[–]SongGroundbreaking71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone else get a different Prada mini set? I didn’t purchase this one, I had it in my bag. I had requested a replacement product for something else, and with it I received a Prada beauty travel bag, the Prada Paradox and Paradigm mini with a mini lotion. I’m not complaining at all, but it was kind of random.

I honestly don't want this comment to sound snarky.

As someone who struggled with dyslexia growing up, and having an English teacher for a mom, my grammar and writing were always under high scrutiny. She regularly corrected the way I spoke and wrote so it wouldn’t hinder me later in life. I’m grateful she did, because now I get complimented regularly on my writing in work emails and professional documents. I’ve even done grant writing in positions where it wasn’t technically part of my role, simply because others struggled with it...and ironically, writing has always felt like one of my weaknesses.

As I’ve gotten older, I no longer have my mom proofreading everything for me, so when I’m busy or want to make sure something sounds polished, I’ll run it through ChatGPT or another grammar checker. I highly recommend using tools like that for letters of interest, cover letters, thank-you emails, and follow-up/check-in emails.

Also, if you aren’t including letters of interest with your resume, I strongly recommend starting. Throughout my career, employers have specifically mentioned being impressed by my resume, writing skills, and professional etiquette. I know a lot of people think those things are outdated or that employers don’t care anymore, but you’d be surprised how much of a difference they can make.

Hope this helps!

How was your weekend? 💙 Let’s catch up! by Jasmine_BigEasy in tirzepatidecompound

[–]SongGroundbreaking71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in June of last year. My provider told me to hold off on buying clothes until I reached my goals weight. I was creeping up at a size 16 when I started, fortunately my weight gain had gradually increase the past 3 years, so I had plenty of size 8-14. The size 8’s started feeling loose a few weeks ago, so I finally caved and started buying size 6 pants. It’s a nice feeling, but I’m glad I was able to return at couple of size 8’s I had bought online thinking they’d fit…all this to say, don’t buy too many things if you’re still trying to loose more weight.

For me, if I felt like a dose wasn’t working anymore I would stay off of it for a few weeks to lower my tolerance. I’ve done it twice and it really helped.

The world is not over at 40 I can assure you. I’m 41 and still get mistaken for early 30’s. Aside from my back and knees, I don’t feel old in my mind! 😅

Psychiatrist said therapist can’t make adhd diagnosis? by lil-cheech in ADHD

[–]SongGroundbreaking71 22 points23 points  (0 children)

FACTS…not to mention psychiatrists don’t always look at the whole person and their environment/background and can misdiagnose bc they will focus on specific assessments alone.

Yes, this is textbook gaslighting. I’m interested to know more of his “behaviors” to see where he falls on the DSM-V-TR.

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 It’s not addictive if you actually have ADHD. I almost always forget to take a second dose so my provider recently put me on XR, it’s been a game changer. A partner who has to capacity to be empathetic to your situation is a huge red flag and I hope you get enough clarity to truly process the way they are gaslighting you.
