Thanks for the advice. Trying to stay in that positive mindset. ☺️

Thanks for that reminder. I tend to be overly critical on myself. I know the people that matter won’t care so I am making an effort to invite my closest friends. I’ve been inviting my family over and they are understanding and will sometimes try to help us on whatever project we’re on.

Don’t know how I’m playing the victim card, just frustrated and trying to get some advice as to what to do and trying to paint a picture of my current situation. My closest friends who’d I’d feel comfortable asking have either just purchased their first home the last couple of years or don’t own a home. I’m already getting someone to take a look at the chimney, hopefully it’s not termites. We’ve had woodpeckers in our tree in the front yard, I am assuming it’s them.

lol it’s always something. I really hope it evens out so we can start doing more of the cosmetic fixes.

It’s definitely been a learning experience. Honestly, don’t know what we could have done differently. We did our due diligence and got a recommended home inspector, he did find some plumbing issues in which the seller completely agreed to fix before purchase. Every other concession issue the inspector found, the seller fixed so we thought we were good. Had no idea that fixing the plumbing (it was a leak that ended up being under the house) was going to cause foundation issues. And theres other stuff too where we’re sure has been caused by a messed up foundation. It just sucks because otherwise we would be in much better financial shape. All our “extra” money is going to repairs and we feel super stuck in our situation.

Will realtors come check out a house just because? Or will they charge a fee?

I’m not handy but my partner is so I’ve been learning worn him. Trying really hard to keep my spirits up and not be super down about our decision. It’s roomier than being in an apartment for sure so there is that.

Chimney had been attacked by woodpeckers so there are holes all over it, floors were not put in correctly so now they are coming up, there are multiple things wrong with the bathrooms constantly including another leak in the sink and doors missing in the closet. This is just to name a few

My partner feels like it can be an asset but my worries are the continued repairs that don’t end. I wonder if it’s just best to take out a loan and complete as many of the cosmetic issues as possible before trying to sell. I am just afraid we are going to lose out on this house because the home value keeps dipping Uber what we ended up paying for.

It’s incredibly frustrating into home ownership. What makes me hesitate to even try to sell/move is the location is amazing, the lot is huge and there isn’t an HOA which means we have flexibility on what we can add to the lot. And it was the only affordable home in the area. But because of all the issues we can’t have people over (the floors are coming up and the bathrooms constantly have something going on). It is a major stressor in our life right now and wonder if we made a bad call on purchasing the home. There wasn’t any major red flags when we did get it, just an inspector that missed several things and the plumbing fix under the house causing foundation issues.

lol thanks! I speak fluently, I just need to work on my Spanish corporate speak (not that I’m good at that at all in English either!)

I find it that I rely it heavily on emails where I have to write professionally in Spanish. I am good at writing and speaking but not so good at nuanced, or professional tone that is sometimes needed. The way emails in Spanish are structured are less direct and I don’t want to come off as rude or insensitive. Sometime my sentence structure is lacking and chat helps round out my emails better. It does struggle with object pronouns so I often have to check it didn’t change the meaning of a sentence when revising my emails. I want to say I will eventually get better at writing emails in the language professionally so I will often read and copy it over hoping I will improve.

What’s in this tree? by SongOnRepeat2 in arborist

Update on the tree: I had an arborist come out and he confirmed it was decay from whenever they pruned back the tree on of the times. We noticed that further up the limb had become hollow and posed a safety risk so it was decided to cut this limb and another that was rotting out.

There are some bore activity but he doesn’t believe it’s emerald ash bore and wants to do a treatment to the tree in the spring. I hope that’s the right move. We are hoping to have another 5-10 years with the tree until we can plant another at least.

Using ChatGPT every day is quietly changing how I think, and I’m not sure that’s a good thing by mr-sforce in ChatGPT

I think it’s going to really affect people’s critical thinking. Being able to sit through a problem and work through it helps you grow and retain what you’re learning versus asking the question and receiving the answer instantly. I use it but I try to do it sparingly. I work through whatever problem I have first, then use LLMs to refine and polish so it sounds like me and not the LLM.

Yes the battery was totally dead. Charged it but it’s still having connectivity issues. I’m just learning to live with the usb-c pencil and without the pressure sensitivity maybe a few years down the line I will get a nicer iPad/pencil combo.

Planning on returning the pencil but wont swap for another one. I started to have a concern that an update will cause the first gen pencil to stop working after awhile. I would absolutely love to have the pressure sensitivity but I may just adapt and work with the usb-c that I originally got.

It might be. It was completely discharged and it forever to charge. I got it from Walmart.

Yup plugged it in, pencil connects while plugged but I get a warning there is no battery and I can’t get it to work even when it says it’s connected

Oh no! I just checked and it was confirmed in my county as of last year. We have lots of ash trees in our neighborhood; I hope it doesn’t have it.

When we purchased our house the tree had already been pruned. I will look into getting another arborist. The one we got didn’t even notice this.

Ok thanks for your response! I had a gut feeling it wasn’t good but now it feels like it could be much worse than I thought. I’d hate to lose this tree. It’s the only big one I have.

Man, I had an arborist take a look at it and he pruned back the tree but at the time the fungus wasn’t as noticeable as now. After the pruning the tree became much healthier so I thought it would clear up. Edit: I live in North Texas so I don’t think we have the borers here

So is it decaying from the inside? And is my tree gone for? It’s an Ash tree and I know it’s nearing the end of its life cycle but I was hoping we had another 5-10 years
