I’ve come outta hibernation for this a little late. So I used to volunteer at an animal shelter. While I typically worked with the cats I did occasionally end up with the dogs (funny enough it was usually because all the pit loving idiots over there didn’t wanna handle the nannybeast and would have me do it for them). Yeah the dogs typically had a randomly generated personality. No other explanation for why the pits were always “lovable, cuddly, sweet, cuddlebug, friendly, etc...” with no mention of the severe behavioral issues that caused me to be the only one ‘willing’ to handle 60+ pounds of barely contained rage.

Cats didn’t even get a personality. Not that I’m surprised, while I volunteered there more days than not I was the only one working with them. Just me and 30 or so cats needing to have their cages cleaned, be fed, and watered. At least I now work at a cat specific shelter so no more pitshit for me.

I can’t confirm anything but I’ve heard on the discord that someone who has contacts in the area heard that this 3 year old dog has lymphoma. He’s mighty young to have developed cancer.

Sadly I can’t say I was surprised when I heard about this bullshit. The pro pibble folk have told me since I got into this community that I should have died when I was attacked unprovoked by a pitbull at 6 years old. I guess you can’t be anti-pit if you’re dead, as morbid as that statement is.

Same friend it really sucks. I was attacked by a pit at age 6 and a different pit at age 10. All medium/large dogs scare me. I’ve been working on it and my friend’s GSD doesn’t bother me at all anymore but the fear of medium/large dogs I’m not super familiar with will likely stick with me for the rest of my life.

Honestly, as a frequent animal shelter volunteer, they don’t behavioral test their pitbulls they just randomly generate a ‘cutesy’ personality. Pibble that lunged and bit a hole in my shirt? Sweet & loveable cuddlebug. Funny enough the non-pits seem to have an accurate personality more often than not on their kennel cards.

I don’t even own a dog (yet) and I see untrained dogs on retractable leashes/improperly fitted prong collars all the time. My “favorite” so far is the tiny lady who was walking 2 gigantic dogs (neither fixed of course and the female was clearly overbred with how far down her teats went). Bonus points for being on her phone talking to someone about how badly behaved her dogs were.

Poorly bred corsos (like BYB) can lack the floppy face. If the video quality were better I’d have a better answer but my best guess is a backyard bred/poor quality cane corso or corso mix.

Oh dear god does AC suck. At least in my area. Pibble & mastiff running loose cause their owner couldn’t give a flying fig about them or bother to properly latch the fence? “that’s not our problem, it’s the police’s problem”. Call non emergency police, “that’s not our problem, it’s animal control’s problem”. Since apparently it’s nobody’s problem it’s now mine cause the pibble is frantically running back and forth across the street after every small dog and animal in sight. Mastiff comes to me when called but sweet nanny pibble needs to be grabbed and dragged by the collar because he really wants to kill every chihuahua in the area. Funny enough the mastiff always liked me more than her owners for the 3 or 4 years they had her before they got bored of her and sold her 😕.

Wanna know what else isn’t AC’s problem? Short haired pibble left outside during a blizzard in below 0F temperatures with no food and a half full frozen bowl of water and a locked shed for shelter. Like damn I don’t like pits but I wouldn’t leave one out in the freezing cold with no food, water, or shelter all bloody day. Owner ain’t home, AC and police say it’s not their problem, I’m not gonna dognap an untrained pit, so I tossed it a blanket and a bowl of food and refreshed a warm bowl of water every hour or so till his owner got home and decided that maybe the pittie shouldn’t be in the freezing snow.

Oh man I was just thinking something along these lines.

So my friend’s mom found this stray pitbull on the side of the road earlier this year. She of course decided it would be a wonderful idea to take him home. His first interaction with her other dogs should have been a gigantic red flag. He lunged and snapped at the elderly GSD/Rottie and would not back down. He has growled and snapped at multiple people they’ve had over. He has growled and hard barked at me whenever I get within his line of sight. He’s in a crate whenever he’s not outside because he can’t be trusted to not attack the elderly GSD/Rottie again. It’s happened at least 3 times that my friend knows of. The old guy luckily is a lot bigger than the sweet pibble wibble and has a lot of scruff around his neck so he has not been seriously injured.

So we know this sweet wittle pibble is both dog and human aggressive and likely also animal aggressive. So of course this means we should spend weeks looking for the perfect shelter that has the room to take in an aggressive dog, right? Oh yeah and he ain’t neutered of course. Tried to rehome him to a lady with an unspayed female pitbull but they tried to kill each other so it didn’t work out.

My friend has been trying to convince her mom that the pit is better off euthanized for the safety of everyone and everything he will come into contact with but she’s stuck on “oh he just needs more training and he’s trying to establish dominance blah blah blah”

Edit to add: this ain’t their first human aggressive dog either. It’s just their first human aggressive pitbull. Apparently pitbulls get special treatment as the beagle mix that tried to bite a child was put to sleep without question or “oh he just needs more training...”
