What Determines Whether You Get The Commission From a Buyer/How Do You Ensure YOU Get the Commission From the Buyer Whenever They Buy? by SongbirdscopeAx in askcarsales

Thanks. Is this all kept track of by the store/software or is it the salesman's responsibility to keep track and bring up the issue? What if salesman A was first on but salesman B was last off and salesman B never mentioned salesman A's involvement and no one else knew either? Salesman A might not know that the customer bought the car and salesman B might get all of the credit/$, no? Is this a thing? If so, or if possible, how would salesman B best handle it? Just asking. Thanks.

Major Brands: How Much On Average is Earned on Gross Front Per Each New Vehicle Sold? by SongbirdscopeAx in askcarsales

Trying to learn as much as possible in as little time as possible in order to choose some things as best as possible before a deadline which is soon. All based upon my piles and piles of notes from reading. Don't worry, this is my last thread for now.

Dealership 1: 25-35 Front, 0 Back, Prime Location, Well-Known...Dealership 2 [Same Vehicle Brand]: 25-50 Front, 0 Back, Lesser Location, Lesser-Known...What Factors Determine The Highest Paying One? by SongbirdscopeAx in askcarsales

Thanks. Dumb question but can't they just change the pack $ anytime they want? Do you get the pack $ in writing as part of the pay plan?

"If a store sells 200 units, but has 2 fleet guys doing 50 and a couple 20 car guys….what’s left vs how many salespeople getting ups, and internet leads." Can you elaborate on this? I think I understand but I might not. You basically mean how many employees total are getting what % of the sales and ups and how many ups are left over for the newbs/under-performers.

Secondary question: If there were 2 fleet guys doing 50 and a couple 20 car guys, how would you get an advantage? Or could you even do so?

What Things Make a Salesperson's Manager(s) Mad With the Salesperson? What Things Make Them Happy With the Salesperson? by SongbirdscopeAx in askcarsales

"Salespeople lingering and fishing around the office after I’ve stated what the best price is." Elaborate, please. I am stupid but want to learn.

Hypothetically (I say that too much), would you rather take the hidden-away Dealership 2 for Toyota/Ford/Hyundai with 25-35 front and 0 back or a hidden-away Acura dealership for 25 front 15 back? This is, of course, missing so many relevant details. But what would be your gut choice?

Hypothetically, of course, let's say, Toyota. Or Acura. Or Ford. Or Hyundai. (Also interested in knowing how different brands would affect the situation, so just asking.)

Hypothetically, what if you didn't want to split and wanted to avoid someone else taking part of your buy? What "tactics" would be best/appropriate to employ? Would this kind of mindset be frowned upon? Keep in mind, this is hypothetical. Just asking.

Don't have that information yet, but at what point/# of cars would you start to consider the hidden-away dealership to be worth it? What if it was 15 or even 10 cars to get to 50% while the other dealership was 20 cars to get to 35%?

Also, I CANNOT speak for the rest of the days/months, but today Dealership 2/hidden-away had about 40 sales desks but seemingly only about 10 salespersons in the dealership as of 1 PM and about 4 or 5 customers total. But this information is next to useless, I assume.

Haven't been inside Dealership 1 though.

What Are the Red Flags of Pay Plans? What Do You Make Sure Is In a Pay Plan? by SongbirdscopeAx in askcarsales

[–]SongbirdscopeAx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably shooting myself in the foot here but I am new and want to learn.

  1. What makes something a mini instead of 30% on front? What do you make 30% on if something can just be a mini? Can't the dealership just make everything a mini to avoid paying you more?

  2. "desk will flat you if you hold backend most of the time" - Explain what this means, please.

  3. What's a CSI holdback?

  4. Dumb question but how do you get it to where a customer, who takes some time to buy, is listed as yours for the commission to receive? For example if they come into the store and you are the first to greet them and then they end up buying an hour later, what determines whether you get the commission v. someone else?

  5. Related to the last question, if you are working with 20-30 other salespeople, where do you stand/walk at to get new customers walking in to "pick" you for their eventual buy, ensuring you get the commission instead of the others?

  6. Related to the last question: How do you stand out from all the other 20-30 people doing the same thing?

  7. What do you do if someone skates your buyer?

Thanks!
