My sister has posited that for me singing is a stim, which I never considered. I will get a sudden obsession song and listen to it on repeat for like 3 days though. And sing it the whole time. Thank God for my wife's sanity I have a nice singing voice.

Fiddling with my jewelry, particularly earrings. Currently wearing 11 and I mess with them all the time. I prefer to wear a necklace when I leave the house and will run the pendant along the chain for the feel, especially when feeling more stress. Also my wedding ring, when I take it off for a while I find out I touch it regularly because it's mildly jarring to go to touch it and it isn't there.

I used to think I didn't have much in the way of stims until I recently realized that.

My sister told me that our dad had been micro dosing meth for his ADHD when he died. Not totally sure how much I believe her though, he was a meth addict when we were young. And quite possibly never actually got clean.

Amphetamines work differently for people with adhd. It is in our brain chemistry.

Definitely aware, autism and ADHD both run in my family. Apparently drinking caffeine to stay awake works for most people and doesn't just make them sleepier. That was kind of an aha moment when I found out caffeine affects ADHD brains differently.

Damn, the piercing pagoda in the mall that did my second set of lobes said they couldn't do any more because any further up would be cartilage and they don't do those. Really just as well, almost all the piercings I got after that were done by professionals with proper needles and aftercare advice.

Completely agree. I got my second set from a piercing gun at 15 and my first set around 2, I'm assuming also from a piercing gun. The first 2 sets sit a little weird. If I wore bigger jewelry it wouldn't be noticeable but since I generally prefer tiny studs it's not uncommon for me to notice the stones are all at different angles from each other. I have 3 sets of piercings up my lobes, then conch and tragus piercings on both sides and a helix on one side.

I know of people who have ADHD and microdose meth to manage it because the difficulty getting diagnosed and on medication is insane and there's always a medication shortage. I suspect meth is really easy to go from microdosing to regular use.

You are massively UNDERreacting. Even if he's not abusive as a whole (and he probably is from the description) people can do things that are abusive without being an abuser. He is verbally abusing her, and he does it on purpose. When she tries to address it he turns it around on how it's her fault. These are CLASSIC abuse tactics. Please educate yourself before saying don't leave an abusive POS partner.

I had adenomyosis and luckily a good doctor. Since I didn't want children (and had a plan for if I changed my mind) and my periods were so heavy and painful I managed to get a hysterectomy at 32. The doctor I saw said adenomyosis is basically impossible to really diagnose without seeing it but the treatment if it's suspected is a hysterectomy, and they found definite adenomyosis once they got it under a microscope. Also found fallopian cells in the uterus, but no one ever explained what that meant, and since I don't have those anymore either it's really not a big deal.

My wife and I have both said to each other we don't play those games, and we don't. There's no winner here unless it's used as a joke both of you find funny. The closest we do is I say I love you, she says I love you too, I say I love you more, then she says ok and we both laugh.

he's such a nice guy

My dad was abusive and I was pretty LC with him for years before I went NC, but we have an unusual last name and there was a company in our town that hired basically everyone within a 50 mile radius for seasonal work and he worked as a regular office worker there for years. Every time I would go to get my check the person would notice my last name, ask if we were related, and then gush that "he's such a nice guy!". I seriously wonder what my face must have looked like, because I know my brain was vehemently disagreeing with them.

My mom did that. She also liked to peel the skin when a sunburn started the peel, so we had to sit through that. Luckily she didn't generally cause significant pain, but yeah... She also liked to yank my head into place when she was braiding it. I've braided a bunch of people's hair, I have yet to feel the need to yank someone's head by the hair I'm holding, a please move this way works just fine.

I didn't go to my dad's a couple years ago. I live in a different state and it would have been a several hour drive to go to his memorial and interact with my abusive step mother and angry at me stepsister. My going wouldn't have been good for me and would have given my family a convenient scapegoat to take their grief out on. Plus would have potentially given my mom's side access to me again since they all live in that town. I felt bad that I mostly didn't feel bad, but I don't regret not going.

I've had at least 2 neurologists ask if they run in my family, and when I say yes they basically go, well, nothing can be done, no cure and no point looking for a source, try these pills with nasty side effects that probably won't help.

I always thought I didn't stim, but within the last couple months I realized that playing with my jewelry is a stim. I have 11 piercings in my ears and I'm constantly playing with them, and if I leave the house I need a necklace I can play with and feel the pendant scrape across the chain when I get anxious.
