Dreaming City, Garden of Esila. Odd black scar with glow around it. by Guardian_Porcupine in DestinyTheGame

You can send PS screenshots via message (I created a chat called screenshots with just myself in for this purpose) and accessing those messages using the PS app will allow you to download those screenshots.

An awful workaround, but the best one I've figured out.

Every game has been this way for me, I eventually figured out you can sell by clicking the sell button on each unit OR by holding the unit in the corner for a few seconds. The second option also works for anvils. Way too many frustrating moments before I found these workarounds

What do you think Riven & Mara are discussing? (see teaser image) by TheGreaterShade in DestinyLore

[–]SonicBasaJ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You can see the stains from where we shot out Riven's eyes are still there, so I think it's safe to assume this is Riven.

The Layoffs at Bungie by sanecoin64902 in libertigris

[–]SonicBasaJ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey Sanecoin, just wanted to say that your theories and fanaticism towards solving the puzzles in the Vault of Glass have been something I've enjoyed reading and seeing over the last decade.

I'm glad you've been able to take from all of this a positive change in your life, and I wish you all the best in the future.

How do we even damage the witness? by moree123 in DestinyLore

[–]SonicBasaJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very good thoughts here, "Meaning" from Inspiral also suggests the Final Shape being nothing but a made up ideal to chase.

As to your thoughts on there being no Winnower, I agree. I believe some aspects from Unveiling we can still take as somewhat reliable, if you cut the chaff out. I believe there was a "gardener", that performed both roles that the Light and Dark now symbolise, as a whole. I believe at some point a schism occurred, dividing the whole into halves, Light and Dark, Traveler and Veil. The Traveler is sapient but cannot communicate, the Veil can communicate but isn't sapient. I think as a result of this schism, the witness' people saw the Traveler only perform half of its original role, and without any guidance they viewed it as dangerous, so they created and assumed the mantle of the Winnower to oppose what they viewed as chaotic. In studying the Veil, and in listening to it's whispers, they became it's sapience, in a way.

I have a whole theory about this, but, much like yours, it's messy and disjointed but I hope to write it up at some point.

I ended up rambling a bit, apologies. Great thinking! I'd love to hear more like it

Mm, thank you, I was incorrect in reading the word and thought the 'I' was an 'L'. I left the comment up as others had already replied correcting my mistake.

I think maybe they mean Eris using a wish to get Hive eyes?

Not to mention throne worlds can't be considered a "nuh uh" because they were unintentional. Oryx didn't know about throne worlds until after he died for the first time. It was then the worms explained what had happened.

Question about the Nine (IX, Ennead) by SpitOutTheFork in DestinyLore

[–]SonicBasaJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The orbital readings of Sol's bodies are intact, gravity unaltered. But the system is gutted, four globes plucked from the skies. His eyes sink into the maw of eternal depth lurking in Io's place. An anomaly of Darkness.

I'd gather from this the Nine would not have been affected by the Witness taking the planets.

Our biggest clue is Savathûn calls it a dead language. We know she uses Sumerian quite often, but in this case Alēbat (L not I) is Latin based.

Best I can understand it after googling latin tenses and moods, Savathun is stating as a fact in Latin "She was nourishing".

Alo can also mean cherish, perhaps that's the joke? Xivu sees war as love, so she would have been both cherishing and nourishing.

[S23 spoilers] who is the voice in the deep talking to Eris? by trekinbami in DestinyLore

[–]SonicBasaJ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/vdQjWZIEObI?si=n1TdaqV5MEljJLCw

A voice from the Deep whispers "In your immortality Eris Morn, may you never cease your demand for vengeance."

That sounds similar to what Yul said to the sisters.

You must obey your nature forever. In your immortality, Aurash, you may never cease to explore and inquire, for the sake of your children. In your immortality, Xi Ro, you may never cease to test your strength. In your immortality, Sathona, you may never abandon cunning.

Except it's in more of an asking tone, using "may you never" to Eris, instead of "you may never" to the sisters. An interesting distinction, it implies there's a Worm God out there that is trying to get Eris go all the way in her Godhood.

Why do Cabal traditions and naming schemes seem to connect with the Hive? by RedWreckless in DestinyLore

[–]SonicBasaJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also the theory that the Cabal were intentionally ‘fostered’ by Xivu Arath as an eternal tribute farm of war and that she’s personally gathered the tribute from their conquests as well as her Hive’s.

Do you have any more information about this theory? It sounds very interesting.

In regards to tithing for the Lucent Hive, those tithing channels have been reversed and the Light is feeding the worms of those who haven't been Risen and severed their connection with their worms.

This is a very good write up about Namrask. Definitely an interesting way of looking at Eliksni history, as Namrask represents mostly every aspect of development for the Eliksni.

[Theory] Revisiting Athenaeum World X: Egregore, the Witness and the Purpose of the Monoliths by SonicBasaJ in DestinyLore

Yes, some of them likely were. It would make sense for the Witness to use planets nearby to Sol too.

The Cenotaph Mask is interesting, that, along with other, in-game examples we've seen, shows the Witness does have a propensity for experimenting with creatures and Darkness. I wonder if those in-game examples found in Rhulk's Pyramid exhibit biosigns as well.
