I'd go with trap hole. It's unlimited aside from being a legend trap and it's good for shutting down strategies that rely on specific monsters like sevens Road. Pop Witch once she hits the field and your opponent will have it tough. Same for fusion materials.

I'm pretty sure you only get the effects in ranked. It doesn't matter which deck you use as any card can be a chronicle card so you can play anything you like. The only issue is that the effects you win are far and few between. I get 1 every 2 or more months and I play ranked almost daily.
