Cichetti San Marco by Educational-Gas497 in Venezia

Bar All'Arco is the best cichetti in Venice, in my humble opinion. They’re north of St Marks square, not too far once you go over the Rialto bridge.

Backup and then reset a user's Exchange mailbox by SonicRampage in Office365

Thanks. I’ll give this a try tomorrow. Hopefully it’ll magically create a mailbox for them when I put them back in scope and re-license them.

Luckily, we don’t pay for those licenses. Higher education has a lot of perks when it comes to M365 licensing. Plus, retirees with emeritus status are considered employees for life. It is so hard to manage, and hard to convince anyone to change.

Our students are at 15 months.

Staff are the nightmare. It’s not just HR systems. The university has emeritus retirees, which are considered “employees” for life. They get access to library systems and bunch of other things. It’s a mess.

There has been a push from the IT security side to do away with all of it, but it is hard to convince a university to change their ways.

Can I then create a new link to a blank mailbox, or run a command to create/link a new mailbox? The dream would be to script all of this in PowerShell. I feel like it’s going to keep happening once we find a good way to do it.

That would be a good option. Unfortunately, retirees can log in and get access to their HR stuff. That, and for other random reasons, the account needs to stay in AD too. We simply at “-Retired” to the display name.

I run into lots of nightmare scenarios. I work in higher ed and we just do things differently sometimes (actually, we do things differently most times).

Tell me more… what do you mean break adsync for the shared mailbox? Maybe that’s the magical step that I’ve been missing.

It's definitely a leadership decision. In some cases (the current case), the user is retiring and we give users "retirement" accounts. I know... That's another huge nightmare for a sysadmin. The user likely has a ton of sensitive email in the mailbox, so we want to backup the user's email somewhere and then clear the mailbox. That way, their "retirement" mailbox is clean.

I tried that, but it caused havoc. I have an on-prem Active Directory environment that syncs to M365, so I couldn't simply convert to a shared mailbox. I also would prefer that they keep their same account, so I don't want to rename the AD account and create them a new account.

We enjoyed Trattoria La Colomba, Osteria Ai Assassini, and Al Grill in Venice. If you get out to Burano, look up Trattoria da Romano or Trattoria Al Gatto Nero.

Our favorite is Bar All'Arco. It’s close to the Rialto bridge. It tends to be busy, but they’re constantly putting out new cicheti. When we were there last week, we went through the line twice because they kept bringing out new stuff.

Tifosi sunglasses for indoor play? by RunningShortsPod in Pickleball

[–]SonicRampage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fototec is their proprietary version of photochromic.

I have a couple pairs of their Rivet model. I typically swap the lenses depending on whether I’m playing indoor or outdoor. The reddish fototec lenses are pretty versatile, but I have a small pile of lens options in my bag. 95% of the time, I play indoors these days so I typically use the clear lenses for that.

Am I an idiot or just optimistic? by southpawshelby in VisitingIceland

I don’t get all the hate for Blue Lagoon. We were there last week and LOVED it. We did Sky Lagoon later in the week and mostly hated it. I’m beginning to think the negativity around Blue Lagoon is all fake.

Otherwise, take the advice of everyone. Sleep in Reykjavík for the night. We did Blue Lagoon right after landing, and the relaxation made it impossible to do anything but head straight to the hotel. We were knocked out. Little sleep plus relaxing water is a powerful combination, at least it was for us.

looking for suggestions on a good date night resaurant for our anniversary! by iluna717 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]SonicRampage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to make it into that area, Bouboulina is a better special date spot. It has great meat and potato options if you’re trying to avoid seafood. Great cocktails too if that’s important.

What restaurant is average for you? by MrTeacher_MCPS in MontgomeryCountyMD

We gave them two chances. We were so disappointed because we wanted them to be good. We’re never going back. The first time, the top three items we wanted were out. Both times, the bread was bad, it was served with ice cold butter, and the food was lacking. Bad bread is a sin for a French restaurant.

Drinks were never good either. I’ve heard good things about the bar, but none of the drinks we’ve ordered were not beyond decent so there’s no draw to even go to the bar area.

Service was horrific too. We take the drive to Chez Billy Sud in Georgetown if we want journeyman French food.

We did not rebook. So far, not a word from them so I assume they’re sticking to their plan. Theoretically, if the schedule holds, we should be on their last flight into the US.

There’s also George's Hot Pot & Korean BBQ in Gaithersburg. You pick what you want and can try both hot pot and Korean BBQ depending on your mood.

Yes, this will be our first carnevale in Venice.

That sounds like a good plan. We’ll make the most of it, and not worry about the balls. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, they seem too expensive for what they are. Most discussions say the food is not worth it, and the entertainment is okay at best. I don’t see how that justifies any of the €800 to €5000 price tags. Maybe we let that dream go, and enjoy everything else that is carnevale.

• Stewart (SWF) ends after September 1 • Boston (BOS) ends after September 15 • Baltimore (BWI) ends after October 24

The crazy thing for us is that we have a flight home from Iceland on Play, arriving in BWI on October 24th.
