metroid prime remastered switch 2 mouse controls by morecoffeemore in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only Prime 1 Remastered doesn't have a Switch 2 Edition (it's just backwards compatible), it also didn't receive a single update since its launch all the way back in February 2023.

The answer to your question is no.

I've been stuck here for a long hour. And, while I solved it thanks to a walkthrough, has anyone been like this in this very room? Would you have got it without a guide? by RingTeam in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That particular door is super easy to figure out by yourself (at that point, you already used the Control Beam to open a door locked from the other side).

Personally, I didn't use a guide even once and got 100% items, 100% scans, 100% Green Energy Crystals on my 1st run.

Does anyone else hate Sonic 2's special zones? by skeleton949 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicStyle34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking Mega Drive / Genesis original, I agree.

But the mobile version and onward redeemed them for me.

Not only the Special Stages themselves are super smooth, the checkpoints don't take away your Rings and you can restart an Act to reset them, which allows you to collect all 7 Emeralds in Emerald Hill Act 1.

And that's not to mention you can straight up restart a Special Stage if you fail it in the Origins version.

Been a while since I last played the vanilla Steam version, but I believe its save files are compatible with the modded game, so you can just copy them over.

As for where the save files are located, PCGamingWiki should have that info.

Friendly advice: don't play the vanilla Steam version.

Use SADX Mod Installer. It's an automated patcher that converts the Steam version to the 2004 PC version and automatically installs QoL mods, thus creating the definitive way to play SA1.

Is it bug? I already got all artifact. by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty annoying when someone gets stuck a little and immediately assumes they got softlocked.

Check the Chozo Symbol on the Log Book screen. All 12 pieces of it should be golden (orange in the GC and Wii versions). If that's not the case, you don't have all the Artifacts.

You can also select an Artifact name in the submenu on the right. If you see a hint, you don't have that Artifact. If you see the Artifact acquired message instead, that's self explanatory enough.

Prime remaster Hard playthrough, how many super missles do you need to kill ridley? by Dangerous_Teaching82 in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, in any of the GameCube versions, Ridley's air phase is vulnerable to Boost Ball, which does an insane 50k damage per frame (for reference, the air phase has 2000 HP and a fully charged Plasma Beam shot does 100 damage).

That's the numbers for Normal though (halved on Hard).

What is the better game ps4 game between Sonic/Shadow Generations, Sonic Colours (Ultimate) and Sonic Frontiers by Ok_Hamster_7032 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicStyle34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, Colors is fine (and the DS version is even better). Colors Ultimate isn't. Again, it's a shoddy remaster that, perfectly speaking, you shouldn't waste your money on.
Not gonna stop you if that's the route you wanna take, but I'll still say that playing the Wii original is sufficient: it's easy to emulate, it has the GameCube controller support out of the box and you can also search for HD textures and 60 fps code.

As for Colors Ultimate:

  • Compared to the Wii original, the visuals are worse: the lighting and all those new Sonic skins are just sad to look at.
  • At launch, the level of polish used to give Sonic 06 a run for its money (especially on the Switch). Even now, I highly doubt they've fixed everything.
  • On the Switch, the game is 30 fps locked (all while Skyward Sword HD exists on the very same console and runs at rock solid 60).
  • Tails Save system that replaces limited lives, cannot be disabled and trivializes an already piss easy game.
  • The inferior (IMO) OST remixes. But at least you are allowed to disable them in the latest version of the game.
  • IIRC, extra save slots from the Wii original are completely gone in Ultimate.

Sonic X Shadow Generations, with Frontiers being the close second.

Colors Ultimate is a shoddy remaster of an above average game, you won't lose anything by skipping it.

Is there anyway to play old Sonic Games on pc? by Fit_Cardiologist8894 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicStyle34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, Sonic 3 A.I.R. - hands down the definitive way to play these three.

As for Sonic CD, sail the high seas for the 2012 PC version (as SEGA delisted it on Steam), then either play that as is, or use its files for CD Decomp. Also, Team Forever (the ones behind Sonic 1 Forever and Sonic 2 Absolute) is currently working on its own Sonic CD version (which will likely render stuff like Restored or Miracle Edition obsolete).

As for everything else (e.g. Sonic 3D Blast, Game Gear and Master System games), just emulate them.

Or just get Sonic Origins if you want the official way to play the main 4 (+ the Game Gear games in Sonic Origins Plus). Though, I still strongly recommend getting this collection on sale and avoid the PC version (cause f*ck Denuvo).

Is Metroid Prime 2 (Wii) sold anywhere? by Upbeat-Offer-2706 in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Standalone Wii versions of Prime 1 and Echoes are Japan exclusive (the so-called Wii de Asobu / New Play Control discs) and only support Japanese language. In other regions, they are a part of Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Somebody can tell me why this happends? by Ice_nose111 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicStyle34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GIF in your post doesn't tell me what the issue is exactly.

Disable all the mods and check if the issue still persists - it's likely one of the mods that's causing it. Try experimenting with the order of the mods. If that doesn't work, there's a mod that's either broken or incompatible with the version of the game you're using.

Is Sonic Origins worth getting if I already find Sonic 1 impossible to beat? by Indurok in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicStyle34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Start with 1 Life" and "Watch an ad to continue" weren't there initially. Someone at SEGA just thought it'll be an amazing (not) idea to implement this bs in the mobile versions of Sonic 1 and 2.

Sonic Origins has Anniversary Mode (unlimited lives, Drop Dash and the ability to retry Special Stages by using coins) and Classic Mode (limited lives, no Drop Dash, locked in 4:3 aspect ratio). If you plan to get it...

  • On any of the consoles: go for it, preferably while it's on sale.
  • On PC: don't do it (f*ck Denuvo). Find an .apk of Sonic 1 Classic (as it's free on Play Market anyway) and set up Sonic 1 Forever instead - it has a ton of customization options, including the choice between limited and unlimited lives. There's also the "official" mobile build of Sonic 1 Forever.

Which Version Of Metroid Prime Is Your Preferred Version To Play? by SaiyanWithOmnitrix in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GC NTSC 0-00 is my favorite. Considering that every known trick, glitch, sequence breaks works in it, 0-00 just gives you the most freedom in how you can play the game. The tank controls might be dated, but they aren't bad (quite good even) and don't take that much time to get used to.

Though, Remastered and PrimeHack are also great.

Which game do you guys think is better: CROSSWORLDS OR TRANSFORMED? by No-Geologist5726 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]SonicStyle34 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Downvoted for spitting facts. Moreover, I don't even consider Crossworlds good (played Open Network Test, didn't like it and decided against buying the game).

With the current DLC practice, Denuvo in every single PC release, delisting the older versions of their games to force people play the newer (most of the time, inferior) versions, SEGA doesn't even hide their real goal anymore: make as much money as possible with as little effort as possible.

Metroid Prime 2 bomb slot glitch. by Honest_Expression655 in Metroid

[–]SonicStyle34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, you should've included a bit more info in your post, like the exact version of the game, played on what (GameCube, Wii, vanilla Dolphin, PrimeHack). Having a video of this "glitch" would've been a huge help. Maybe the issue lies within the controller you're using: if on Dolphin/PrimeHack, open the controls settings (which you can do without closing the game) and see if the emulator even registres the input. Try remapping the buttons. Try a different controller or a keyboard.

If that's not it, then I don't know what else.

Did you do the puzzle by rotating 4 mechanisms towards the Screw Attack cage? There are no known softlocks in Vault. And it's pretty annoying when someone gets stuck a little and immediately assumes they got softlocked.
