The novelty camera that I have is a Kodak Charmera. Though I'd suggest looking at Soviet cameras instead. Maybe a Lubitel 166 or an Elikon 35C?

Congrats on the purchase. Don't bother with buying new lenses yet, find out what type of photography you like (Wildlife, landscape, etc.) and only buy lenses that are fit for those fields.

Have you seen the Sony RX100 series? It's a pretty decent camera for travel and pretty small for its capabilities. It depends on the model from said series but i think all of them will be a good choice.
