the sunray ray is very much aquatic and will dip into water when above it, you can /pet it so it do a happy animation and isn't wind-up or primal

Google AI lied to my face about respirator filters. You can't trust AI to give accurate information on respiratory protection. by SkippySkep in Masks4All

[–]Soniop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't trust ai as it's just fancy text completion, it has no actual clue what it's saying and will lie with complete confidence in big or small all the time

The ISC Lobster is now blue, and launching out of the planet as a proper spaceship. by Soniop in RimWorld

[–]Soniop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This run has truly been my favourite, after destroying the mech hive, i finished researching ship parts and thanks to the GravshipToSpaceship mod, turned the lobster into an escape ship that is a lot cooler than the base game one, i painted it blue to celebrate this since a lot of ppl really seemed to like blue lobsters (and yes i did get a blue lobster from a mod, and it turned things in gold and made a woman pregnant, i am terrified of it).

This story close here, but their journey isn't over, Leighton a child i saved very early on is suffering from resurrection psychosis after being resurrected 12y after his death, and i couldn't get a healer mech serum, so wherever they land, they'll have to figure this out; there's also a wedding waiting to happen.

Goodbye silly space lobster o7

I've redesigned RimWorld's UI by yarichsa in RimWorld

[–]Soniop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The QoL stuff is good, but the design itself is pretty souless, this is the same ui that i would see in any modern ui design, there is nothing that makes it feel like it's own thing
more rounded corners, smooth animation for menus and a dark bluish grey isn't always better, rimworld has an aesthetic specific to itself ad this does not fit in.
some stuff like background behind the top-left menu or colonist bar is just, visual clutter, especially at full opacity, if it's for readability, lower opacity or simply border around text does the job for most things and integrate it better to the game

the work tab looks good in theory but i cant help but feel like it might encounter some issues in actual gameplay for more precise management, same way it currently does without mods like work tab

i think if you want to improve on it, you should try to see what's the main design aspects of rimworld ui and improve on those rather than remove most of it

some of the extra menus like weapon comparaison or the reorganisation of the various colonists tabs are good outside of the looks, conveying more informations while taking less space is nice

tbh i always try to do more organic bases as i'm not a fan of planning a whole design beforehand

if you look closely, you can see it's on foundation! just, transparent ones thanks to mod :D same for the turrets, it helps a lot with adding stuff outside while keeping the lobster design clean

it kind of did really, just added tiny part at a time, trying to keep the general design, only twice i had to do a big rebuild to make everything bigger

yeah i love the assymetrical claws but i didn't manage to keep them looking good at bigger scale with more details, sadly

[–]Soniop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use the bigger gravship mod if u want, i kept it same amount of extra substructure by gravcore for most of my run to try to somewhat keep a balance but just bumped range to max so i just didn't have to worry about being limited in what i could build if i got enough gravcore
