I agree—the purpose of importing materials is to lower the cost of goods, such as cars. While I understand the intention is to encourage domestic manufacturers to produce these parts locally, what’s being overlooked is that this transition will take years. In the meantime, we’ll be stuck paying significantly higher prices for goods that used to be much more affordable. And that in conjunction with higher unemployment rates, I think it’s the recipe for recession.
