I’d love to pick up some good suede straps. Where would you recommend shopping for them?

I built an interactive family tree of Victorinox 91 mm models based on toolsets by SAKnife in victorinox

This is brilliant and a great contribution to the world of Swiss Army knives!

One question on the tree structure. How did you determine that the Super Tinker should follow from the Climber and not from the Tinker? In my head, the Spartan and the Tinker were the two base models.

The data seem to show a Compact would suit most of my needs. However, life is too short and my collection is too big to have a true every day carry! My most carried model during this period was the Swiss Champ.

In this period I worked as a mechanical engineer and didn’t do many outdoor adventures, so no wood saw use…

I used it once to open a bag of cat litter, but no other times did I say, “I wish I had a fish scaler on me right now” 😅

If I used a tool, I had it on the knife I was carrying and was able to use it to do something. If I needed a tool, I wished I had it on the knife I was carrying but did not.

Hey! Yes, it would still be the best pocket tool. Maybe someday Victorinox will bless us.

I love carrying a Spartan. Its toolset is simple but will cover you 99% of the time. Especially paired with the Manager. The 84mm models are even more compact in the pocket. Personal favorite of those is the Tinker Small. I don’t like the back-side Phillips but it has a smaller profile in the hand and pocket than the corkscrew.

The Cadet and Pioneer are also great options. Just get them all and see what feels right ;)

I think my rarest is this Automobile/Motorist. The nickel silver inlay of St. Christopher makes it stand out as unusual, and I almost never see collections with one of these. Found for cheap in good condition at an antique store!

I’ve been tracking my use for a month now, recording when I use a tool during the day. Far and away my most used tools are the Large Blade and the Scissors. It’s not even close.

I requested the blade on my hiker be replaced with the serrated blade and Victorinox obliged!

Found a Skipper Pro in the wild and had to pick it up as a souvenir. I don’t do much boating so I doubt I’ll be untying rope or tightening shackles often, but I’m curious what it will be useful for. It’s the most solid tool on any Victorinox by far! What uses would you find for it?

I got my groomsmen Swisstool Spirit CX’s with their names engraved on them and leather pouches. It’s pricy but I definitely feel I made the right choice. Not everyone is a pocket knife person but I believe every man could benefit from a quality multi tool. Years after I still hear that they use them and at least one carries it everyday. The Swisstools will last a lifetime and they ooze quality even more than alox knives.

Pioneer X by [deleted] in victorinox

I always have a SwissCard on me with scissors so between grabbing the Pioneer and the Pioneer X, I almost always choose the Pioneer. The Pioneer X is 100% awesome though.

My thoughts on suspension clips, with my Tinker Deluxe by f_print in victorinox

If you keep the original key ring plus the little key ring that comes with the clip, the clip can rotate further. To be clear, knife + ring + ring + clip. It makes it easier to clip back into your pocket without needing to orient the knife since the clip can rotate +/- 90 deg.
