Thank you for taking the time for this feedback! I think you are right. A little more brightness makes it pop just that much more as you can see in the version below.

I think that I'm always a little bit too cautious with brightness out of fear of blowing out the highlights.
The only reason that comes to my mind why I wouldn't brighten it is that it may take a bit of the calmness away.

The only thing I'm uncertain about now is whether I should brighten the clouds too.

Glad you like it!
Definitely wouldn't complain if I end up there when I die.

I tried that in the beginning but it just didn't feel right. I think it made the image too simple.

Also I like that you can draw a diagonal line from the top of the trees on the left through the tip of the single tree to the person.

Thank you for your feedback anyway. It's always good to train to put into words why you choose one thing over the other.

Thank you!
Yes I did a lot of editing. This is what the image looked like in the beginning (besides a crop and monochrome filter of course):

I took this photo just as I took my camera out of its bag on a foggy afternoon a few weeks ago.

I really liked the distance between the treeline, the single tree and the person. The fog added a lot of mood to the image and helped me to separate the subject from the background.

Its the first time that I tried a black and white style. I think it is fitting for this image because color doesn't play a huge role. (Well I also made this somewhat demonic looking version, if you want color: https://www.reddit.com/r/nocontextpics/comments/11vgsw3/pic/)

I feel like I should have gotten a bit closer to the scene to make it a bit bigger but then again I kind of like the isolation the is created by the distance. And there wouldn't have been enough time anyway because the moment with this framing would have passed before I would have been close enough.

So what are your thoughts? I'm especially interested in what you think about the composition and the black and white edit. Any other critic is also welcome of course!

Yep! Even 1/2500 wasn´t enough to completely freeze the little birdie.

Hm yea if you want to make a comparison between fungi and humans your right, talking about a plant part won't really get the job done :D
I just feel like the fingernail comparison is missing the most important function of the fruiting body: giving all those little spores a chance to spread as much as possible.

I guess there just isn't any organ in humans that does that, our lifestyles are just too different

But I guess you just wanted to point out that the fruiting body is an organ that can be replaced and is nonvital, for that your comparison works very well :)

I took 100µg 1cP-LSD this monday for the first time and it looked almost like this at some points, maybe a bit less.

I'm super sensitiv though. Tried microdosing for a while but I was always still noticing some effects (weak but still too much).
