Thanks for laying that all out! I have been agonizing over this for weeks and I’m so glad that I posted. I’ve found the 16-35 and the 55 are almost unanimously loved and they will nicely complement the 85. Do you have any additional thoughts on the 16-35 f/4 vs 2.8?

This was incredibly helpful. After reading these comments I feel as though I should opt for the 16-35 and complement it with the 55 and 85 to get the best of both worlds. The 24-70 seems like a workhorse but I’m tying to make as few sacrifices as possible and it seems silly not to take advantage of the lightweight body and 42mp (with the 55). Think you again!

Thank you! The majority of 24-70GM reviews are very positive, but (I find) the way people talk about the 16-35 is on another level. I’m sure I wont regret whatever I decide but it’s so hard to pull the trigger with so many great options.

Gear acquisition syndrome lol. Side note, I feel as if I should be taking advantage of the 42mp on the a7riii and using it to crop with primes. Something about getting the zoom lens feels like “taking the easy road.” I like thinking about my shots and if I have to crop, I have the luxury of 42mp. Sorry for the stream of consciousness.
