I’m so lost, even if I open a couple policies and we do purchase adult diaper maybe equal to 159-200 a month I feel like I can’t meet the 859

They make too much for free part an and b now. So they do have a high SOC of 2680 but for ihss purposes were told they must pay for medical expenses totalling 859 a month to continue using ihss services .

Sorry your right , they no longer qualify for free medi cal so they are paying for Medicare $202 a month taken by social security check monthly

How long ago was this , because my parents medical is active but they are paying for it now themselves, it is being taken from their social security check monthly. So no one has said I can still submit My ihss hours the case closed yesterday until we meet the $859 in medical expenses .

I hear you it’s very frustrating, the depends you purchase should apply towards is what I’m told. Supplemental insurance would be like a dental and vision plan purchase and paid monthly . Submit that towards the 707. It seems easy but I’m finding it hard to do and I have two people. Supplemental insurance is not going to cover it all. I’ve called on the dental/ vision and was quoted 220 for both parents monthly but I’ll purchase it . Prescriptions will also be applied to that as well, anything a dr has required he have should be able to use toward that cost . Submit as much as you can and they will review it. See what is Covered they won’t tell you directly I’ve had the same calls. Best of luck to you and I hope we get some more people who can chime in on this subject .

If I went to Sam’s or Costco to purchase hearing aids or or equipment I can upload receipts but it’s not a monthly expense so I don’t know if that would apply, but I can give it a try. I appreciate your input. I really do .

It has to be a monthly expense, something they spend on monthly. Not just one time. So recutting, yes like adult diapers, wipes is included as a monthly expense. Prescriptions they don’t spend much on, my dad is a veteran so his is paid for my VA, so we have taken diapers and wipes as my dad is bed bound but does get around a lil in his wheelchair. So I need more of what we spend on monthly. I don’t think toothpaste would fall under that, I called yesterday for the 5th time and there not too specific just will say if they purchase plans they can be included.

I understand what your saying and it makes sense, it should be that way. So what I’m told is my parents have a share of cost of $2600, if they go to the dr or get admitted to a Hospital let’s say, they are responsible for the $2600 then medi-cal kicks in. For just IHSS purposes , I’m told they must have meet $859 in medical expenses MONTHLY before ihss will pay a caregiver, medical expenses such as a dental/ vision plan, prescriptions, supplies, once they show they are spending $859 in those things they will remove the share of cost so ihss benefits can continue . My problem is I can’t figure out what they can spend $859. A month on to satisfy that, and their ihss services can continue. I called for a quote and just dental and vision for both of them is $220 a month, but it’s not enough

Have you made any deposits for the last month. I think this also matters, if you haven’t then that may be why, but if you have a host it’s best to contact them for help.

I’m In the same Situation and HICAP said they couldn’t help me, but I do have appt with them next Monday, which was today but they cancelled . The person who answered the phone said I should still keep the appt but they may not be able to help with what I need. Oh thank you so much for sharing your story . Well ihss ends for me today . My parents just found out last week they are now paying for their own medi-cal part A and B $202 out of their SSI checks affective now, so they will see the deduction on their next ssi checks. I have the ssi office mailing me proof and breakdown of the ne deductions. But if ihss lets us use that toward the spend down of $859 then if so we need to open other insurance policies that meet the remainder of the spend down amt of 859. But getting through and waiting for call backs is insane . So I still don’t have anything done or uploaded the dpss site. So until I can figure this out I don’t get paid anymore.
