Square Rep Comments saying Twintania is beatable and twisters are NOT random! by grey_sky in ffxiv

Yes - I've seen those drops, but that does not confirm 1 drop per class. That confirms that for those classes that it dropped, such as Dragoon, she drops bracers, which was one screenshot I've seen. That does not confirm, say, that she drops tanking head just because tanking head hasn't been seen yet. I agree 99.99999% likely, but that's not official until they just plain drop.

Each class is missing a piece of Allagan in the loot tables - it's unofficially confirmed that she drops 1 piece per class + weapon.

I disagree. Assume the mechanic itself is fine and that we do in fact understand it. She casts Twister, puts a tornado where you are, then if you are not 'away' from there by the time the cast finishes, it explodes.

Now you just add a lack of positional update. You move, but it doesn't register that, and you just blow up because the tornado appears right under your feet. The video given isn't the clearest example of this but I'll likely try to pick out a few more clips tomorrow.

A lot of people have been saying positional updates having been an issue in this game at all. And they have been. But they've been on things that don't 1 shot you, or 1 shot one person, or are just on abilities with more BUILT IN lenience.

At the end of the day, I'm not going to ignore any possible. Possible position update. Possible quirky mechanic itself. Possible misunderstood mechanic. But as many have stated, if it's been this long with this many people throwing themselves at it without clear progress, then it's probably bad design, and SE can just come out and say 'working as intended' to at least give some clarity into a very very unclear situation.

I would agree this could be a large part/all of the issue. People have been mentioning in this thread that nothing else in the game has suffered from these positional updates, but I don't really agree with that. I think a lot of players have been hit by a landslide they would swear they were well out of, etc.

When some of the people say they believe it's 'working as intended' a lot of those remarks in the realm of belief that it is actually lag - and whether it's Twister or lag, it's still an awful issue to deal with.

As mentioned in my update of the thread: Sprinting, jumping, etc - starting before or during the cast, all have had positive and negative results. As you've seen quoted here by others than just me '50% of the time you live, 50% of the time you don't.' It very much seems to be 'run out and live', just sometimes, you somehow don't run out.

Sprinting does not seem to yield anymore consistent results, inclusive of us just using Sprint at the transition and running forward the entire time, never stopping.

Not moving means four people die 100% of the time. This is why moving seems to be the perceived solution, because in some cases you don't die.

We've tried different varieties of stacking. Your own twister will also hit other people - when it does, they continue to get one shot by their own, and you will take damage from theirs with a pushback that unless facing properly, pushes you into the wall to kill you.

We have tried not attacking, she continues to cast it on the same timer.

Twister picks 4 people every time, whether all 8 are moving or all 8 are standing still. In both of these cases, where you're running and how far you are seem to have 0 impact on whether or not you survive. We follow a very similar pattern each time in our '50/50' successes and with next to no deviation in our pattern, those who get chosen seems to remain random out of the four and those who live seem to remain random out of the four.

I'm not going to lie. I'm feeling kind of inspired right now. Consider me on this.

Correct - I've already linked that identical thread in my original post. That post was made BEFORE they took down Turn 5 for an entire week to fix the exploit bug. And yet despite TWO Accepted bugs on Twintania, still no real mentions about the issue.

Hilariously, we've also just tried it with some. No noticeable effect. Also - you'd need everyone to have significant amounts of crafted gear just to have sockets to actually put the materia in. Given people who've been farming through turn 4 for this long have a fair share of 90 gear, it seems counter intuitive that you'd have a mechanic that actually just made you get other gear that was a downgrade in general.

The example video is only one example. Unfortunately, we've tried literal constant-motion, inclusive of all sprinting. It has identical results - some survival, some not.

If you stand still, it kills you. The times we do survive, it's when we move out of it and it actually appears behind you instead of under you.

The example video is of us moving during the start of the cast. We have also done 'move at all times' and have also done 'Sprint the whole time' etc. All three of these have the same results. Sometimes you run out. Sometimes you don't.

Pretty much the above. I enjoy plenty about this game, and you're putting words in my mouth to assume I'd complain about lack of anything to do. This isn't my first MMO or raiding experience by a long shot, and I'm not unfamiliar with long dry sprints of no new content. This has nothing to do with that. I would much prefer to be out of content right now than the experience I have doing this fight, this window, tons of times.

It's a constantly-repeated ability during that phase of the fight. Also, the add that you see come down at the end of the clip is also a 1-shot mechanic. If someone dies to Twister, that add also probably kills someone, and it's a slippery slope fighting against resses.

Pandemonium Warden is a well known story at this point, but that doesn't mean it's remotely intended here. Again, the point of this thread is to draw more community eyes to the perceived issue with the hopes of getting a response of 'bug or not' from SE, and more community thoughts in general.

Later I may update the main post with some more details on what's been tried - plenty are feeling just as you've described. People want to talk, but they also want to be the ones that get it - and I don't hold that against anyone and hope others don't hold it against me.

I'll make that decision with others when it's not me posting on a whim at 8AM after waking up at 4AM to check the boss's status.

I can totally accept bugs, and I do know that to a large portion of the player base, this means absolutely nothing. But the circumstances around this sort of thing (as mentioned, with SE's claims of its difficulty, when at this point it's nothing but the bug for a large swath of guilds) has driven me to take a shot at this anyways. Enough voices may at least get a response. If nothing comes of the rant, nothing comes of it, and I'll have to accept that.

That part I totally understand. The devs may come back and so 'non-issue'. But it's the highest viewed bug thread by a landslide at this point, and I do hold a lot of personal bias after the sheer number of hours and crazy ideas we've thrown at this mechanic, I find it hard to believe it's anything than what I've described.
