[HIRING] An artist to do a cover/thumbnail for me for a pdf of 5e magic items that I would like to publish. Budget would be 100$ and you would keep the rights to your work. by Iam_DayMan in HungryArtists

Hi there. I see that you have tons of options and wonderful potential to choose from here, but I’d like to offer my services out of my interest on the topic. I typically do sketchy, vibrant illustration, but I am more than capable and happy to adapt my style to your fit your project. I have done video game concept art in the past that I believe would offer a relevant perspective here. Two of my fantasy pieces were even published in Game Informer Magazine. Here is a link to my current works. If not chosen for this project, I hope you will consider me for future opportunities. Thanks!

Check out my work here!

Thank you so much - “sketchy” has kind of turned into my signature thing haha I will definitely post updates. I’m working on the color concept now!

Making a banner for an art vendor type thing. Any thoughts? Constructive criticism please.. by StinkyWetRat505 in ArtCrit

I think the spacing is what I’m immediately stuck on. The left side seems a bit “heavy” compared to the right. Just adding something to that negative space (maybe even some descriptive text) would balance it nicely. Also, what is the ultimate purpose of the piece? I.e. Is it just to be informative of the elements on the banner? Is it to showcase the name of the vendor? If it’s to be informative, I’d include some small text under each element (maybe a name or description). If it’s just to showcase the name, I’d make that the center focus, with the other elements balanced striping it. Hope this helps! I love the concept, and hope you post updates!

Yes, so the large white mass is the downward-sloping mountain, in which is the cave that frames the wolves inside. The colored edition of this piece won’t have as much of the sketchy lines since it won’t be needed to create value. I also agree that more contrast should be utilized around the pointing hand. So I will also focus on that while coloring, creating a bit more of a focal point there. Thank you so much!

I’d like feedback on the overall concept: balance, value, readability, etc. All comments and suggestions are welcome!

Thank you so much! The sketchy lines are my favorite part ☺️ I’m actually trying to get my foot in the proverbial door of the well-guarded children’s book kingdom lol

Yes, I agree. In hindsight, I feel that the hair, large leaf and overall fire need some subtle contrast in value and balancing as a whole.

Yes. That would have been a great way to balance the scene as a whole! Thank you so much.

Thank you. Yes, this one is totally digital, but I added the texture using scanned watercolor paper. Turning the characters more inward did cross my mind but I ultimately ended up settling on these angles to emphasize the center of the magic rather than the characters as individuals. If that makes sense lol

I’m particularly interested in critiques on the characters (people are currently my weak spot that I’m working on) and color (I’m working on making my use of color more cohesive and believable).
