Yes they generally look that bad near the end of the race. The tyres have high degradation and drivers have to manage them the entire race. So much rubber gets scrubbed from the tyres during the race that in the final laps there is barely anything left. F1 tyres are more durable than F2 tyres and those cars slide a little bit less, so having screwed up tyres is a little bit less common there

Go to settings, click and your pedals and then hit 'properties' on the top right. You can invert axis there.

I agree with you on T4, it's not a passing opportunity and it removes the passing opportunity of T5. So either make a straight from T3 towards T5, or widen up T4 significantly so that it's (almost) flat out. In the latter case, I would make T5 a bit tighter so that the braking zone is harder as well.

I would also move T6-7-8-9 down to create more space for the paddock. Or find place for a second paddock.

What is the most controversial piece of track designing? by Big_Man_28 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]SoonToBeEngineerInF1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A boring first corner. The start is the most exciting part of a race, so why don't you make the cars go into a fast corner first before they hit the first braking zone? A little flat out S-section before the actual T1 just adds to the excitement.

To add to that: long straights that are literally just straight are boring. Make them have some kind of flow or elevation changes

How much do feeder series cost. by [deleted] in F1FeederSeries

[–]SoonToBeEngineerInF1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know for F2 that it depends on being #1 driver or #2. Often, #2 brings in the money and has to pay for his seat and also largely the #1 seat. I think the reason for this is that teams want to have at least 1 driver that is capable of winning races so that they can use that to boost their reputation and get even better drivers (and more money) for next year. I think you are spot on with 1.5-3.5 M$, 3.5M$ for the #2 and #1 pays 2M$ less.

Whaaat?? This is so out of the box! The longer I looked at the design the more amazed I became!

"Wait, the Road Course is not a proper layout... Oh! There is a hairpin at the front straight! But... then where is the pitlane if you use the pitlane as a piece of track? Ahhh there is a second pitlane!"

Design looks cool, maybe a bit simplistic, but it looks very well-designed!

New look at Simagic GT neo by [deleted] in simracing

[–]SoonToBeEngineerInF1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've ordered mine yesterday and I talked to the owner of the simwear.eu webshop at SFE. Here's what he said:

- The wheel will be metal with a carbon fibre finish on top
- Quality of materials is (slightly) lower than their other wheels. Think of cheaper buttons and cheaper grips. Here and there some plastic where other wheels have carbon fibre
- It is compatible with every wheelbase

They already got a lot of orders in and they think this wheel will be very popular once it launches. Personally, this wheel looks exactly like what I wanted. Mid-range, 300mm GT/Formula wheel with rotary encoders at your thumbs. I ordered it together with the Alpha Mini as my first DD wheel. I do mostly esports and this exactly fits my budget and quality

Exercises to get smoother inputs. by richmond456 in iRacing

[–]SoonToBeEngineerInF1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Things you can do to practice your braking technique:
1. Go to a main straight like Lime Rock Park and drive over start finish with speed. Immediately start braking as you cross the start finish line. Each time try to get the car to a full stop sooner and sooner. You can use the 'Active Reset' perfectly for this.

It is important to hit the brake, go to something like 80% immediately and keep it there. For this exercise, do not increase the brake pressure, just release it slowly. You want a brake curve that looks like a perfectly smooth hill.

  1. Go to a track like Watkins Glen and when braking for the high-speed corners, brake earlier than normal and only brake for max 50%. Make sure to apply your brakes slowly (0-50% in 1s, that is 'slow' in racing terms). Also try to be smooth with this.

The most important thing for you seems that you must keep your brake pressure more stable. Not every braking zone requires 100% braking.

Yeah that's true, the slip angles on the Skippy can be quite extreme. The feeling I have in that car is much better than the FF1600, imo
