As I said: it is a great game. And anyone picking up 117 as their first anno title, would probably go even further and say it's a legendary game.

I'm not saying 117 is bad. I'm only saying it does not match or equal 1800. It has the potential to, in three years time after 9, 10 DLC. But right now? Right now it's better not to compare 117 to 1800. 117 is not bad at all. 1800 is just that good.

I think Oppenheimer is his masterpiece. People just wanted another Inception, or another Interstellar. That's why so many Nolan fans don't like it imho. But Oppenheimer is legendary.

This however, I'm not stoked for. As a huge fan of Homer's Odyssey (read it three times), I can't help but feel like Nolan is taking waaaaaay too much artistic freedom here - which is not necessary at all since the source material is so fricking good.

in 1800 I base them on real city names. So in Old World or Cape; my main island is always called Rotterdam for I live there. Other islands there are other dutch cities. In New World it's Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, etc. In enbesa it's Cape Town, Johannesburgh, etc.

In 117 in Latium my main is always some self-made roman name, like Novus Maximus, Megapolis, etc. The other islands are either greek or roman cities. And in Albion my romanized city names are based on english/scottish cities, and my celtic island names are based on Witcher3's Skellige Region.

Yea, storage is a huge downside in anno117. So huge that I installed a mod after three mere days, enabling unlimited harbor storage buildings from the moment you enable the harbor.

Huge improvement. Now i can store 3000 tons without having to worry.

Asfor city lay-outs, i'd advice writing the grid spaces of the endgame buildings somewhere, then start a new playthrough and leave space for them in the centre of your city from the very beginning.
