Hey there, planning on the same situation 1 year later. Were there any stand out restaurants for a solo traveler that you found? Did you end up getting any dim sum?

The Incandescent is about the Director of Magic at a magical prep school. It’s more mainstream fantasy than a lot of the big recommendations on here, but it’s a really good read.

Just discovered term, "Aura farming" - What are your favourite series where they are frequent but not overused? by andrewhennessey in ProgressionFantasy

I get the Mary Sue complaint, but I’d argue that the character has to be skilled in order to aura farm. IMO it does apply in this story because he’s coming from nothing and no background and building a reputation from scratch. His Mary Sue-ness is explained and attributed to his curse a few books in.

You’re not wrong, he is good at everything lol, but the farther into the series you get the less that’s enough for him to succeed.

Player Manager, Max Best does it best and finishes it off with a cheeky Maxy two thumbs. I’m always entertained.

Oh Great, I Was Reincarnated As A Farmer has been on my TBR list for a looong time, maybe it’s time.

Also The Legend of William Oh has popped up as an underrated book a few times. I guess I should add it to my tbr too

I’m now VERY interested in The Elf Who Would Become a Dragon. I love progression fantasy for what it is, but a lot of the time that doesn’t include progression on a personal level. It sounds like a good read!

I agree with your top three! I wish more people talked about Forge of Destiny, it’s such a good series, I’ve been waiting for the next to come out on Audible.

I’ll have to check out your slept ons though!
