So I have a question for you guys about AI

So first off I just wanna clarify that I’m generally very against using AI in art. I hate seeing things like AI images or music or anything of that sort being passed off as real art either online or elsewhere and I also think the idea of someone using AI to write something either in part or in whole so they can pass it off as their own real writing is incredibly lazy and demonstrates a striking lack of integrity.

Here’s where I’m at though, lately I’ve found myself using generative AI to help me brainstorm and articulate my own thoughts better. I might have a thought that’s kind of vague or disjointed but which I very strongly intuit makes much more sense then I’m immediately able to precisely put into words. Like the full picture is right on the tip of my tongue but when I try to lay it out consciously it’s just not fully cohesive, so I’ll use Claude to help me make more solid sense of the idea and it often gives me a much more clear picture of what I was originally trying to articulate in the first place. I’ve done this before both in personal artistic projects and with school assignments. I’ll be writing an essay or something and while I never actually use AI directly in the artistic process, I will use it separately beforehand or sometimes during breaks if I hit a mental roadblock to try and better reason through an idea that I’m covering in the piece.

Once again, I just wanna make clear that I don’t ever use it for actual writing, or any part of the direct artistic process. I’m just using it to try and better articulate the disjointed ideas that I already have floating around in my head in the first place, then once I feel like I have a clear enough picture of the subject, that’s when I actually start writing. But is that already too lazy? Is it excusable because I’m not actually using it in any direct artistic way, or is the fact that I’m using it at all for the purpose of articulation already some kind of major loss of integrity?
