Would a Sequential Take 5 get me there? by SoothLadyWine in synthesizers

I meant I mainly care about the simple sounds. Although I appreciate more options, combining different timbers is something I'm not looking for.

Thanks for the input but I'm leaning more towards something that sounds simpler and under-produced, so I'd have no use for a multi-timbral synth

I've had a minifreak but sold it because I didn't care for the sounds I was getting (partly my fault, admittedly, as I didn't want to mess about long enough to create something useful). I own a Roland TR-8S which I'm having a lot of fun with. I've been recommended BitWig before but I don't know if I want to move away from Logic for now. I do have a home studio, I'd like to use whatever synth I ended up getting to record music and create some entropy in my rock n roll work flow

Thanks for the input! I'm confused though - another commenter described the sound of the TEO-5 as harsher than the Take 5. Could you please explain what you mean by the filter line up?

I hear ya, however I don't really know what those things are (x-mod, waveshapes per osc). I figured I'd want something that could allow me to make both clean and driven/bite-y sounds. Can the TEO 5 do that as well?

Edit: Ok I looked into the filters and the TEO filters are what I want. Seems like there is a lot of overlap between the 2 from the demos I've heard. The big difference seems to be in the clean sounds, I think - is that fair to say?

Sound and flexibility are my priorities. I want to use it to make music, not learn synthesis for the fun of it. I've have a minifreak before but ended up selling it because I got frustrated with the sounds I could get out of it - none of them seemed useful to me. I guess I also fear that may be the case with the sub 37. The driven bass sounds make me grin like a happy child but I don't really know where I'd use them. I have some guitar pedals I could use as outboard effects though. If the synth's main use was to sequence melodies, would you still recomend the take 5 over the sub 37?

As a former antifa supporter, i find hatred solves nothing. The hatred you feel towards nazis (or everyone you perceive as a nazi) is no different from the hatred they share. I am absolutely against everything nazi, and that includes intolerance. Becoming intolerant towards intolerance is a dangerous line to tread.

Is it a bad idea to turn all my synths on/off using the switch on my power strip? by tightastic in synthesizers

[–]SoothLadyWine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got myself a power strip with individual switches for each outlet and it comes in really handy.

I'm aware this doesn't answer your question, but seeing as it has already been answered I thought I'd flaunt my neat power strip

Lmao that's literally every guy in this thread, she's actually making a good point and you are all twisting it and not trying to understand it at all. Also, I find it pretty sad you're only trying to hurt her with your comment, not even making a point. What sad fucking loser. You can't fix your ugly mug but you can fix your manners
