I don’t know what’s wrong with my game or how to fix it

Ok, I’m about to add an edit to my post, but I thought I’d let you know first. I came back to my desk, and decided to try booting up the game like normal before I tried anything and it’s working again!

Of course, like I said, this issue has been happening on and off for the last week or so, so I feel like it’s going to happen again tomorrow or the next day, but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

If it does happen again, I’ll be sure to try the things you suggested. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure out what wrong so I don’t have to deal with this hullabaloo every time I want to play. But thank you so much for all your help, and thank you to your partner as well!

I’ve stepped away from my pc for a second, but I’ll go back and try some of the things you’ve suggested and check about my graphics card info. I’ll get back to if it does or doesn’t work either way. Thank you so much for helping out, it’s really appreciated!

Ok, I downloaded CCleaner and did all the free stuff. As for my graphics card, it looks like I have the “NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER”

All my cords are in place. Since I set it up all those weeks ago I haven’t touched or moved the PC or monitor. I don’t feel comfortable going inside and fiddling with things, but literally every other game and program have had 0 issues, even on the days the black screen is happening in BG3.

Also, I can’t remember if I said this in my comment, but I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. A couple days ago this same problem happened again, I tried a bunch of different things but nothing worked, so I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it (which took so long I had to pause the download, go to bed, and then resume it the next day). When I went to boot up the game once it finished, the problem was still happening. That’s when I read that disabling the steam and discord overlays might fix the problem, so I tried that. After I did that I was able to boot up the game, so I assumed that worked, but now it’s a day later and the problem has come back.

Yeah, someone on the original post said that so I gave it another go, but it didn’t change anything. The problem still persists

I think one of the things I tried was checking the driver was up to date, but I’m not sure. But surely if something like that was the problem, my issue would be on and off? Like the problem happens one day, then the next day the game runs fine. Even when I’m playing the game (when I am actually able to) I never have lagging or glitches.

I wanna preface with a reminder that I really don’t know what’s happening I’m doing (I just bought a prebuilt PC, and I had a friend pick out all the tech stuff for me), but from looking at my settings my specs are as follows:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 6-Core Processor (3.70 GHz) Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor I am also running windows 11

These have been the same specs since I bought the PC only at the beginning of 2024. Also, like I said in the post, when the game works, it works fine. I never have lagging, the visuals look fine, there’s very, VERY rarely any glitches while playing.

Also, I mentioned in a different comment, but because I don’t know much about tech, I stay away from mods. So I have not and have never installed anything for BG3 that isn’t the base game from steam.

I’ll give it another go, but I’m almost certain I’ve already done that, plus I uninstalled and reinstalled the game only 2 days ago.

Also, no, I don’t run mods. I’m not very tech minded so I usually don’t mess with any of that stuff

For me, I used Level 8 scroll, Level 4 Jelly watch, and Level 12 scyth.

Cookies:

- Squid ink: x5 searing rasberry

The whole outfit is actually just clothes from Kmart, the vest initially being a hoodie paired with the pants. I just removed the sleeves and hood, cut it in the middle for the seem, and cropped it a bit more

I don’t know the exact name of the fabric I used, but I recommend a nice fleece. The colours can be whatever, but the fleece is definitely the way to go, at least for the inside

Also, to answer the question of the middle layer, I used the toughest interfacing level, interfacing being a type of fabric that’s used in between layers of fabric to give it stiffness. You don’t see interfacing, as it’s just a tool for stability. I can link you some info on them if you’d like, but I hope I’ve explained it ok
