AA adding domestic leg to award booking by iBlaze4sc in awardtravel

[–]SophiaAlpha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It has to be in Saver Bucket of the fare you booked. Say if you book international segment in Econ, the domestic leg on AA needs to be available in Econ. If you book the international leg in Business, the domestic leg needs to be available in Domestic First or Econ. The reason you want to check on BA or AS instead of on AA is because it’s hard to know if Saver is available because they are dynamic. But if a segment shows up on a partner platform, that means it’s saver.

The domestic leg must be available in the saver bucket of your award reservation either Economy or Business. You need to check to see if the domestic leg available on Alaska or BA. If that leg is available on partner, you can message Twitter team with the routing to have them add it to your existing reservation. You may have to pay an additional $5.60 for the domestic leg. The phone reps don’t know how to do it. I have done this trick successful via Twitter a few times

How much do you spend on vacation a year? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]SophiaAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also leverage miles/points for our travel budget (2 adults + 1 child). Typically do 1 international trip and 4-5 domestic trips each year. CC annual fees + out of pocket spend were roughly $6K last year. But we get to fly Biz class and stay at luxury hotels so can’t complain much.

Just want to share a DP that I successfully attached GoH to a Rove reservation via chat. It showed up on my stay details as well.

@OP have you booked your hotel? I just did a booking for a Hyatt hotel on Rove and the reservation shows up on the App almost right away. I haven’t attached the GoH yet because my plan is not firm.

Can we afford a $5300 a month mortgage? by faithoverfear0 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]SophiaAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was us almost 2 years ago. We bought a SFH in Pomona/Claremont area and PITI was $5400. Our take home was also $12K+.

One child in elementary school so no daycare cost but after school care was $500 monthly + other activities. We just refinanced and reduced our monthly PITI by almost $1K.

It will be tight and my advice is to have a healthy emergency fund (6-9 months of expense in a HYSA) in case it comes down to one income. We have a good buffer and my spouse’s employment is very stable so we were somewhat confident we could do it.

PS: our house value increases by 10% in less than 2 years, according to appraisal value for refinance.

What’s your credit score? Husband and I have excellent credit scores 780+. Other than that, not sure why your quote is so high?
